We recently spoke with the team at Locks of Hope Association to understand the real challenges behind wig production. A wig is more than just hair; for a cancer patient, it represents confidence and hope during their toughest battle.
The Reality:
While hair donations are vital, the high cost of production is a major challenges. Currently, only 25% of applicants receive a wig annually, leaving about 400 individuals still on the waiting list.

💔 For many, wigs are not easy to access —
their high cost puts comfort and confidence out of reach.
✨ This February, 𝐄𝐥𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐒𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐱 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 comes together to make a difference.
Locks of Hope is a non-profit association in Malaysia that collects hair donations and turns them into wigs for cancer patients, while supporting wig production through charity events and fundraising.
Together, we hope to restore confidence, dignity, and smiles — one strand at a time.

How it Works💡
Donation: People with hair (typically 6 inches or longer, often requiring it to be clean, dry, and sometimes unbleached/undyed, depending on the event) cut it off and donate it.
Processing: The donated hair is sent to wigmakers in Taiwan and China.
Wig Creation: The hair is cleaned and skillfully hand-tied into realistic wigs.
Distribution: These wigs are provided free of charge to cancer patients who lose their hair due to treatment.
Why it Matters? 👀
Emotional Support: Hair loss significantly impacts self-esteem and emotional well-being for cancer patients.
Confidence & Dignity: Wigs help patients feel more like themselves, offering comfort and maintaining a sense of normalcy.

Donate Hair: Look for charity haircut events or follow their social media for collection points and specific hair requirements (length, condition).
Support Events: Participate in fundraising events or sales organized by Locks of Hope.

慈善有许多种形式。
很长一段时间里，我对慈善的理解很直接：只要抱有恻隐之心、送上祝福，并捐出一笔自己觉得舒服、不感吃力的金额就好。
后来，我得知了“捐发”这个充满意义的选择。为了做好准备，我停止了烫染造型，专心护发，让它保持最自然的状态。
今天，我终于做到了。我把这一部分的自己，送给了更有需要的人。
个人感想：
我花了很长时间才意识到，我的外表和头发并不能完全定义我；真正重要的，是心里的灵魂、精神以及价值观。
这不仅仅是一次剪发，更是一份对生命恩赐的感恩表达，也是一个将这份力量分享给正在经历艰难旅程的人的机会。🙂🙏

有一种爱叫 The Other Love ❤️
Charity comes in many forms.
For the longest time, my concept of charity was straightforward: feeling sympathy, sending well wishes, and donating a monetary amount that I was perfectly comfortable with.
Then, I came to know about the meaningful option of donating my hair. To prepare for this, I stopped all chemical styling and focused on nurturing my hair in its most natural state.
Today, I finally did it. I gave a part of myself to someone who needs it more.
A personal note:
It took me a long time to recognize that my appearance and hair don’t define me entirely; the soul that lives within, my spirit, and my values matter so much more.
Beyond just a haircut, it’s an expression of gratitude for the blessings in life, and a chance to share that strength with someone on a tougher journey. 🙂🙏
