For centuries, Royal Ascot has stood as one of the defining moments of the British social season, where heritage, craftsmanship and formal dressing remain at the heart of the occasion. Within the Royal Enclosure, the top hat continues to be an enduring symbol of that tradition. As Lock & Co. celebrates its 350th anniversary, we are proud to announce our appointment as Official Top Hat Licensee to Royal Ascot, a partnership shaped by shared heritage and a mutual commitment to British craftsmanship. For more than 200 years, gentlemen have visited Lock & Co. Hatters in preparation for Royal Ascot, from first fittings to final polishing before race day. Today, that tradition continues through one of the world’s finest selections of top hats, carefully sourced and restored by our master hatters, alongside private fittings and restoration services designed to preserve the rituals of occasion dressing for generations to come. #LockHatters #RoyalAscot #TopHat #AscotRaces #AscotRacecourse

There is something handsomely stylish about full Ascot attire: a top-to-toe expression of unapologetic polish. A morning suit, delivered with Huntsman precision, sets the foundation. Clean lines and a classic silhouette establish subtle authority, built upon with a crisp shirt, tonal wool waistcoat and grenadine tie. Mirror-gloss Oxfords by George Cleverley signal intent before a bet is even placed, while one of Lock & Co. Hatters’ finest silk top hats, precisely fitted by hand using the 19th-century conformateur, crowns the look. Add a meticulous grooming ritual - a traditional hot towel wet shave, sculpted haircut or beard trim and the sublime scent of Highgrove ‘Splash’ - and you are not simply dressed for Royal Ascot; you are curated for it. This is heritage tailoring meeting modern grooming swagger: refined lines, assured presence, and a quiet confidence that turns heads from the parade ring to the Royal Enclosure. @huntsmansavilerow @georgecleverley @lockhatters @truefittandhillofficial #RoyalAscot #AscotRaces #AscotStyle #RoyalEnclosure #LuxuryMenswear Photography by @gregjwchalmers

Are you Royal Ascot ready? Your top hat should be. As the oldest hat shop in the world, we know a thing or two about tradition, and how to wear it well. For over 200 years, gentlemen have visited Lock & Co. in preparation for Royal Ascot. In the Royal Enclosure, a top hat is not simply part of the dress code, it is part of the occasion itself. The right fit makes all the difference. A properly fitted top hat sits straight, feels secure and complements the wearer’s frame, which is why each fitting is carried out with precision and care. Top hat fitting appointments are available, though not required. #LockHatters #RoyalAscot #TopHat #RoyalAscotHats #RoyalAscotFashion

Royal Ascot begins long before the first race. It starts with the search for the perfect hat. A piece that not only meets the traditions of the Royal Enclosure, where hats must have a base of at least 4 inches (10cm), but one that feels entirely your own. The Spring / Summer 2026 Lock Couture by Awon Golding collection celebrates 350 years of Lock & Co. history, drawing inspiration from the women who have passed through No. 6 St James’s Street over generations. Elegant silhouettes, sculptural forms and modern craftsmanship come together in pieces designed to be remembered long after the final race. Discover the collection in store at No. 6 St James’s Street and online. #RoyalAscot #AscotRaces #Races #RacesFashion #AscotHats Photography @thisisseventy7 Model @meg__sellers HMU @rachaelholdingmakeup

Shot just outside London, a contemporary spin on a country sports/shooting look first seen in the late 18th to early 19th century, as explained within Fashion History’s comprehensive timeline. As menswear moved from riding breeches into full length trousers, there was a transitional period where closer cut trousers were worn with tall riding boots, before city and country dress became more clearly separated. This look draws from that moment, bringing it into a modern setting, keeping the silhouette clean and elongated, while still feeling natural to the environment. The vented sports coat features a storm collar for inclement weather, with neat turn back cocktail cuffs. Worn with our made-to-measure gilet, silk cravat and RTW shirt, available to buy online and in-store from 10 Savile Row. @onsavilerow Hats @lockhatters
