With Porsche M97.21 and M97.01 used engine cases going for big bucks, if you can find one, replacement of damaged parent metal is now worth the effort. The end result is a very stout solution that fully supports the new cylinder sleeve. #remadeintheusa #PorscheRebuild #enginerebuilding #porscheengine #automotivemachineshop #enginerepair #porscheborescoring #borescoring #enginebuild #enginebuilding

One of our newest installers, A1 Automotive, recently brought in Tony Callas, Callas Rennsport, for specialized Porsche training. So what makes an IMS Solution Certified Installer different from other shops? Training. And Standards. Certified Installers have to meet our standards and follow our procedures and directives. If they don't, they get axed. Without both of these, you might end up with someone just shot gunning parts at your car. And you might end up footing the bill. /certified-installers/

Unlike last year's expansion, this one is moving along quickly. We need the space badly!

Even on a 2009 or later Porsche sports car engine, what oil you use matters. Even without oiling issues, hot oil doesn't protect as well and most street oils aren't up to track use. On hot days, Driven XP6 should be your go to on H20 cooled engines where your oil temperatures will be sustained over 225F. For mixed street/track cars, Driven DI50 is also a great option. /products/driven-racing-oils/driven-engine-oils/driven-xp-racing-oils/

Cylinder technologies are evolving faster than the aftermarket can keep up with them. Take a minute and read this latest article in Engine Professional magazine for what everyone planning a rebuild on a modern aluminum engine needs to know. /2026EPQ2/#p=60

Yikes! Nothing like Midwest corrosion on engine blocks. This one is wicked!

We are seeing more and more Porsche Macan engines with bore scoring. Sad, but true. What's even worse is that these engines received really nice pistons - unfortunate to see them go to waste. These Mahles have 2pc oil controls, dlc coated wrist pins, and lightweight asymmetrical forged pistons with bank specific wrist pin offsets. We've even seen hard anodized top ring grooves on some factory pistons. In all, these options add significant cost. We stock replacement Macan, Panamera, and Cayenne pistons that are made custom for us by CP-Carrillo. If you didn't know, they are owned by Pankl, as OE supplier to Porsche. #PorscheRebuild #remadeintheusa #enginerepair #porscheborescoring #borescoring #enginebuild #enginebuilding

Sorry guys, forgot to hit record on the plateau passes. If you watched the other videos, it looks and sounds the same. If you don't know what plateauing is, the purpose is to take off the microscopic peaks, leaving just the right amount, along with valley to hold oil. What we are showing here is not honing - it's scrubbing. If you've watched any presentations from Lake and Mark, they've been recommending scotch-briting the bores as the final step. What is happening here is left over honing debris and folded and torn material is mechanically removed. You can't do that with kimwipes and denatured alcohol. And doing this by hand takes forever. That's why we built our own tool to do this. Last step is a quick cleaning with teg ultrasonic and then a wipe like usual, and then profilometer testing. We typically take between 4 and 8 traces per bore. If you are having your cylinders done elsewhere, you don't get this level of detail. Quick bit of trivia. Volvo requires for their truck engines 40 traces per hole, which then get averaged. That's quite time consuming considering a half inch or longer trace can take upwards of a minute to carry out. #NikasilCylinders #madeintheusa #MadeInTheUSA #automotivemachineshop #enginerebuilding #honing #Nikasil #nikasil #traceboss #tracebossplus #lnengineeringllc #lnengineering #Mitutoyo #mitutoyo

Broke ground this week and already have concrete poured. Expansion on our annex building is moving along nicely! Special thanks to PSI Construction for taking care of us on this project.

We've increased our batch sizes and optimized our 5-axis programs. You know what that means. We were able to drop the cost on our billet aluminum valve covers, chain boxes and covers, and other billet upgrades for your aircooled Porsche 911. /products/aircooled-porsche-parts-and-upgrades/ln-engineering-aircooled-porsche-performance-parts-and-accessories/

Planning to rebuild your Porsche 911 soon? Not sure whether to go stock or big bore? What about single versus twin plug? We cover this and tons more in our Ultimate Porsche Piston and Cylinder guide which just landed this month. /porsche-pistons-and-porsche-cylinders-the-ultimate-guide-for-air-cooled-911-engines/

Installing two-piece oil controls, especially thinner 2.0 rings, can be tricky. Even with a tapered sleeve piston ring compressor, some might find the expander wants to wiggle its way out of the oil control ring. This is one thing you do not want to rush through. We found that putting a little bit of engine assembly lube will help the expander stick to the ring, so as you compress it and push the Piston into the ring compressor, you don't end up having the expander pop out on you.. One trick is to alternate between pushing at 12:00 and 6:00 on the Piston, wobbling it as you push it into the ring compressor. Once you go to install the Piston into the block, make sure to hold down hard on the ring compressor and then again tap the piston on alternating sides of the crown. If you try to push the Piston straight through, it'll end up catching on the oil control or one of the other rings, and possibly cause damage. #porscheengine #enginerebuilding #PorscheRebuild #pistonrings #pistonring #enginerepair #enginebuild #enginebuilding
