Read more 👇 Compression is the most talked about tool that nobody actually explains properly. So here is the quick version. Every sound has dynamics. The difference between its quiet and loud moments. In a mix, big swings in volume cause problems. One sound jumps out and everything else gets pushed around. A compressor tames those loud spikes. The quiet parts feel more present, you bring the level back up with makeup gain, and suddenly your mix feels controlled and solid. Start with three things. Threshold, ratio, and makeup gain. That is all you need to begin. If you want to keep learning music production properly, my Ableton courses are linked in bio. Built for beginners, no jargon, just the stuff that actually makes sense. #musicproducer #musiproductiontips #mixingtips #musician

Your sound has nine lives. ADSR decides how it uses them. 👇😻 ADSR stands for Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release. These four settings control the shape of your sound over time. How fast it comes in, how it settles, how long it holds, and how it fades out. Every sound has an envelope, whether you designed it or not. A slow attack gives you pads and swells. A fast attack with a short decay gives you punchy plucks. A long release gives you that dreamy, trailing feel. Once you understand ADSR, you stop guessing and start sculpting. This is one of those fundamentals that changes everything once it clicks. Save this for when you are deep in a synth patch and wondering why nothing sounds right. Signal shapes explained easiest way? Sine, square, and sawtooth all sound different and this is genuinely the most fun way to show you why. If you ever wondered why your synth sounds harsh or smooth or buzzy, it starts here. This is what my music production tutorials looks like now and I have zero regrets.

How to make good music?! 👇 All of it is good. The unfinished project. The weird experiment. The song that took five minutes. The one that took five years. The track you made at 2am that will never leave your hard drive. All of it counts. You are allowed to make music just because you love it. You are allowed to chase streams and playlists too. There is no wrong way to be a musician or a music producer. Keep making your thing. It matters. 😻

People keep talking about the stereo spectrum like it’s obvious. After this it will be. The cats are breaking down mono, stereo, panning, and the stereo field for beginner music producers. No jargon, no gatekeeping, just cats. Save this one for later and check out my online courses from the link in bio. ❤️

Read more 👇 Understanding frequency masking really took my tracks to another level and I hope it will be the same for you. When two sounds share the same frequency range, one eats the other alive. Your mix feels full but nothing cuts through. That’s masking. The fix isn’t always EQ. Sometimes it’s putting some sounds octave higher or lower, or changung the arrangement. Sometimes it’s just knowing what to listen for. Ans usuallu it’s about removing sounds that take up the space. I’ve extended this whole topic over on my YouTube channel with actual audio samples so you can hear what ”muddy” really sounds like compared to a clean mix. It’s the kind of thing that clicks immediately once your ears hear it. It’s on my new catsplaining channel LNA Does Tutorials ❤️ Link in bio to find the video.

Purrfectly wide or stuck in mono? 😻 Mono vs stereo is one of those things nobody explains properly when you’re starting out. Here’s what’s actually going on in your signal, and why it matters for your mix. Save this for the next time someone asks you why their track sounds so narrow. 👇 Ableton beginner? The courses in the link in my bio has everything you need to get started. #musicproducer #musicproductiontips #mixingtips

Every person who buys my book ”Creative Confidence & Music Production” directly from me will get a hand drawn cat from me personally, along with a little sticker that says ”There is no failure in creativity.” It’s a small thing but I really believe it, and buying directly means a lot to me. 😻❤️ Link to the book is in my bio. #musicproducer #synths

Fur real though, audio effects do not have to be confusing. Here is a beginner friendly breakdown of 6 effects visualised with cats because why not. Save this one for when you need a quick reminder of what these actually do to your signal and follow me for more catsplaining of audio & music production. But now, which one of these kittens gets your sympathy? #musicproducer #musicproductiontips #mixingtips #audioeffects #musicproductionmemes

If your project folder is full of unfinished ideas, you’re not lazy and you’re not talentless. You’re missing a few things that no one really talks about. A clear goal, a trusted process, and the confidence to let it be rough until it’s done. I wrote a whole book on the mindset side of this, and my Ableton Live: Track From Start To Finish course exists for exactly this reason. It walks you through a complete track from the very first idea to the end. No more open projects going nowhere. Link in bio. #musicproducers #musicproductiontips #beginnerproducer
