Our partnership with @vans officially began in 2013 with our first collaborative footwear project. In 2022 we took that partnership to a new level as they began to support our non-profit work through @lmnh.explore , a career exploration program designed to help expose teens to the vast number of career paths that they are not yet aware of. This past July our students in this year’s program were fortunate enough to travel from Columbus all the way to Costa Mesa, CA. to visit the Vans World Headquarters where they learned from designers, merchandisers, sales reps, marketing coordinators, and much more. Our next collaborative project pays homage to our 2022 Next Era class and the countless future leaders across the country more details to follow.. What will you leave behind? ⏰🏁

When someone tells you “you can be whatever you want to be”, what does that mean if you don’t know the options that are out there? If you are never exposed to anything to even know what you like and don’t like, how can you find it? What started as just an idea has blossomed. Next Era isn’t about taking trips, it is about creating experiences that plant seeds with the goal of seeing those seeds grow into fruitful leaders in the future. Our goal is to help young people in our community know that yes, they can be whatever they want to be, but also help guide them on the path to get there. Columbus is bubbling right now. I see programs like @weare.epicyouth laying the foundation, my brother @bigbizyogi and @columbusfashionalliance setting the tone and blazing a trail for all of us.. it’s only a matter of time before we collectively make a lasting impact. I do not know where this journey will take us, but I am so proud of the work we have done thus far. Over the Summer I had a chance to catch up with several students from our first cohort and they are in school, studying abroad, well into their career paths, focused, and moving! I’m ready to shift things into the next gear. 📶 @lmnh.explore @soleclassics Thank you to every partner we have had to date, especially @withcanvaas @vans @adidasoriginals @columbusgov @caresource @nike

What a full day at the Vans World Headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA. 19 of our students were able to take a tour of the brand new offices, work on a design activity, hear from industry leading experts, and even shoot a little hoops. Most would call this a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but we now know that our students very well may be within these walls helping push the brand forward someday. Special thank you to Michael Hastings Senior Manager – Vans NORA Pinnacle for setting up this experience and hosting us. Thanks to Chloe Muller – Senior Developer - Materials for teaching us the science behind matériels and how they affect product pricing. Thanks to Shawn Williams – Associate Designer – Lifestyle Footwear and Ashley Narvaez – Associate Designer – Innovation for sharing your stories and leading our design workshop. Thank you to the HQ merchandising team for showing us the internal store set-up and educating us on the process that goes into merchandising hundreds of stores. Thank you to Enrique Carillo – Senior Manager – Merchandising Mens Footwear, Omar Ochao – Manager – Brand Management Lifestyle, and Madi Boudinot – Senior Manager – Brand Communications for showing us that there are so many different people and careers involved between designing the product and it arriving to a retail shelf. Thanks to Jacques Herring - Vice President, Americas Retail Stores for teaching us that faces that look like ours also belong in the room. Last but not least, thank you for Laura Stauth - Vice President of Sales for continuing to believe in our partnership (and funding it lol). Follow @lmnh.explore FULL RECAP VIDEO COMING SOON 🏁🏁🏁

This week we kicked off our first youth workshop in the Inglewood, CA community. As we gear up for Juneteenth 2025, students worked together with professional designer and Columbus native, Marshall Shorts of @maroonartsgroup to look back at the history of Black pioneers in the fashion world while creative their vision of what Juneteenth means to them. Together with Marshall, the students conceptualized design ideas what embodied the personality and heritage of their community while learning tools that pros use to make ideas come to life. These ideas will transform into physical product that they will then distribute for free at a Juneteenth festival in a few weeks. This activity will continue this weekend in Columbus, OH and conclude on June 21st with a live booth in both respective areas for Juneteenth. Please tag someone who should swing by or would be interested in the future. 📶📶📶 Special thanks to our partners @adidasoriginals for continuing to believe in our community initiatives.
