Better outcomes happen when we work together 🤝 Through the NSW Government’s Good Neighbours Program, Local Land Services has partnered with @nswnationalparks , landholders and @snowymonaroregionalcouncil to tackle orange hawkweed in and around Kosciuszko National Park. By working across agencies and land tenures, the program has been able to expand surveillance, respond faster and move closer to eradication, while it’s still possible. This is what collaboration in action looks like: shared knowledge, coordinated effort and real results for the environment and agriculture. Learn more about the project with our link in bio. #GoodNeighbours #Biosecurity #OrangeHawkweed

No its not a snake… It’s an Eastern hooded scaly-foot! Our NSW Government Local Land Services staff were out on a field tour with landholders and funding partners to showcase the work being done to protect plains-wanderer habitat when they found this critter on a property north of #Jerilderie. Their survival strategy is to mimic a brown snake, and they do this very well! Their closest relatives are the geckos, and they enjoy munching on spiders and scorpions.

A special find out near Deniliquin 🌸 One of our NSW Government Local Land Services staff members spotted a beautiful patch of Garland (Wilcannia) lilies (Calostemma purpureum) flowering on a Travelling Stock Reserve (TSR) north of Deniliquin. These striking native lilies are known to respond to summer and autumn rainfall, emerging and flowering when conditions are just right. Their appearance is a great reminder of how resilient and responsive our native plant species are to seasonal conditions. Discoveries like this highlight the important role TSRs play in supporting biodiversity alongside their grazing value. Keep an eye out - you never know what might be blooming after rain!

From basic electronic identification tagging to big genetic gains 🐑✨ When Stacey Lugsdin and her family began using electronic identification (eID) devices they didn’t know that within 12 years they would: ✅ lift lambing rates to over 100% ✅ fast‑track lambs off‑farm ✅ achieve dramatic genetic gains in both wool and carcass traits ✅ transition to a completely non‑mulesed flock. For advice on implementing eID, visit the NSW Government’s Sheep and Goat eID webpage using the link in bio.

Meet Evelyn 👋 Come along with Evelyn for a day in the life of a NSW Government Local Land Services District Vet. Evelyn has worked with LLS for 16 years, starting out in the Central West and now based in NSW’s South East - supporting producers across very different landscapes and production systems. No two days are the same, because it all depends on what the community, farmers and land managers need. On this visit, Evelyn was doing National Arbovirus Monitoring Program (NAMP) work - collecting blood samples from cattle to help support market access and inform producers on the seasonal distribution of these viruses. Animals in the program are blood tested four times a year (sometimes more, depending on the farm’s location). “I first see them as young calves, and it’s great to watch them ‘grow up’ by the end of the program.” Thanks Evelyn, and to all our District Vets for the work you do for our communities, producers and industries. #Vet #ditl #animalhealth

As we get ready to wish you an egg-cellent Easter long weekend (hopefully including the chocolate kind) we want to take a moment to recognise all our primary producers. Thank you for the work you do to drive the NSW economy and regional communities - creating jobs, producing food and fibre, and powering local industries. Thanks to the NSW Government's NSW Food Authority for providing the research and data for our egg industry too! #Eggs #NSWFarmers #Producers #EasterEgg

Strike a pose 📸 Check out these cheeky birds who thought it was time for their close up 🪽 🦜 NSW Government Biosecurity Officers had set up a trail camera to help a landholder monitor pest animal activity, but it appears that some wildlife in the area had other ideas... Setting up monitoring cameras helps you see what's really happening on your property - from pest animals to extremely curious birds like these ones!

11 years difference! 😮 In 2015 the NSW Government's Local Land Services helped fund @greeningaustralia to undertake direct seeding in Marrangaroo National Park to return native vegetation cover in weedy areas. One of our team members went past a few days ago and captured the results 11 years on - what a difference! Collaborating on projects like this helps to ensure that our natural resources are protected for years to come. 🤝 #Vegetation #Seeding #Conservation #NationalParks

Cattle on the mooove! 🐮 #Hay locals were treated to a true countryside spectacle as around 650 head of cattle made their way along the stock route and crossed the Hay Bridge over the Murrumbidgee River 🏞️ With tough seasonal conditions and limited stock water, the NSW Government’s Riverina Local Land Services and Hay Shire Council teamed up to safely guide the mob through town and the drovers absolutely nailed it! Smooth, calm and efficient from start to finish. The crossing meant a practical, cost-effective solution for stock owners and a pathway to better pastures for the cattle. A great example of collaboration and good stockmanship getting things done 💪🤠 Don't miss the most adorable and confident Shetland pony leading the way! 🐴

Who’s a good boy? Connor, the hawkweed detector dog! 🐶🔍 Connor is leading the pack as a specially trained and authorised member of the team, helping protect Kosciuszko National Park and Snowy Plains by detecting orange hawkweed as part of @nswnationalparks ' eradication program. Once found, infestations are treated and monitored to stop this invasive weed from spreading. First discovered in 2003, the eradication program is working hard to remove this invasive weed - with support from the NSW Government’s Good Neighbours Program. If you visit the region over the summer: 1️⃣ Learn to spot orange hawkweed. 2️⃣ Clean boots and gear before and after bushwalking. 3️⃣ Report suspected orange hawkweed to your local Council or call the NSW Biosecurity Helpline on 1800 680 244. Stay updated on the Good Neighbours Program with the link in bio. Remember, dogs and other pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks to help protect our native animals. #goodneighbours #weeds
