๐Ÿ†• Ahead of the European #Education and #Skills Summit 2025, LLLP unveils its Renewed Manifesto for Lifelong Learning ๐Ÿ—ž๏ธ This cornerstone publication takes stock of the past 10 years of EU policies and renews our commitment for more inclusive and democratic education systems in Europe and beyond. It embodies our vision and our mission to spotlight learning everywhere and at every moment in an individual's life course. It draws from the strength of our members, their members and the whole education and training community. It doubles down our ambition to be the most representative organisation for education and training in Europe. 20 actions for our 20th birthday, 4 pillars as compass ๐Ÿงญ Take a look at the publication: http://bit.ly/4nVbrqx The official launch of the Manifesto will take place during the opening ceremony of the Lifelong Learning Week on 8 December; register here: https://www.lllplatform.eu/lllweek ๐Ÿธ #EduSummitEU #UnionOfSkills #LLLP20 #LLLWeek

How do we build resilience in an ever-changing global economy? It starts with education. ๐Ÿ’ก On May 7th, our Director @brikenaxh keynote the @cff_edu Conference in Brussels. Her address, โ€œResponding to Current and Future Societal and Economic Challenges,โ€ moved beyond theory to address the practical role of the non-governmental sector, sharing examples such as the work of the platform as a network of stakeholders and its recent Horizon Europe research project ๐Ÿ‘‰ STRIDE Key takeaway: We must return to the heart of the UNESCO & Jacques Delors Institute โ€œLearning: The Treasure Withinโ€ report. By focusing on early age interventions and the "learning to learn" competencies, we empower the next generation to navigate a complex world.

The Lifelong Learning Platform is participating in the 2026 Erasmus Generation Meeting in Split, Croatia. Under the slogan Port of Mobility - Gateway to Skills, the event brings together all @esn_int (Erasmus Student Network) countries, higher education institutions representatives, policy makers and civil society organisations. This first day was marked by key topics including the Joint European Degree, the Erasmus+ traineeships and the different ambitious goals of the Union of Skills. It was a good opportunity to showcase the revamped Erasmus Careers platform which builds upon the Erasmus Intern portal, supporting students from across Europe in finding quality traineeships. The panel discussion moderated by our Director Brikena Xhomaqi focused specifically on traineeships as an important component of the Erasmus+ mobility and of studentsโ€™ professional development. Panelists highlighted traineeshipsโ€™ role in developing technical and transversal competences while gaining exposure to international working environments and concrete career opportunities. The afternoon events continued to showcase the work of the DETAS project focused on developing solutions to the challenges faced by trainees and interns, the higher education institutions supporting them and the employers hosting them. Today was a big day! ๐Ÿคฉ We are grateful to the Erasmus+ Programme Committee for inviting us to share lessons learned from the current implementation of the programme, highlighting the achievements to be continued in the next iteration, but also identifying the areas of improvement ๐Ÿ” Our President, @eligambards , shared data on the increasing demand for the programme, and the growing expertise of beneficiaries which is closely linked to Civil Society Organisations building their capacities, supporting their networking and connecting the policy priorities with the programme framework. ๐Ÿ’ช Successful elements included the programme structure, the administrative simplification, the sector-specific #earmarking, the operating grants for civil society, and the recent cross-sectoral calls. We look forward to the continuation of these aspects in the next funding period 2028-2034, coupled with more support for capacity-building for organisations, further administrative simplification, and a stronger reflection on eligibility criteria to ensure that organisations connected with intended beneficiaries are accessing the programme โฉ Happy to share these messages together with the @youth_forum and its president @raresvoicu2507 as well as with @engsoyouth ๐Ÿค

Yesterday, LLLP attended a joint event of the Cyprus Council Presidency and the Broadband Competence Offices Network exploring how lifelong learning is the cornerstone for moving from vision to action on Europeโ€™s digital future. Discussions concentrated on leveraging synergies between funding programmes, tailoring learning opportunities, and implementing the current Union of Skills initiatives. LLLP raised the need for encoding an EU level right to training if people are to have the time to engage in lifelong learning, but also on the importance of a skill development horizontal principle in the next MFF.

Yesterday we attended a historic event, the association of the United Kingdom to the Erasmus+ programme, as of 2027! ๐ŸŽ‚ At the @ukmisbrussels and at the presence of Director-General @piaahrenkilde , we celebrated renwed opportunities for learners across the UK and Europe to engage in further learning mobility opportunities ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ The @britishcouncil will act as UKโ€™s National Agency for Erasmus+, supporting UK learners of all kinds access opportunities to study, teach, and train across Europe! This is excellent news for civil society as well, and civil society organisations in the UK in particular, as they will be able to access EU funding and join projects to foster even more cooperation in the #education sector On to more adventures! ๐Ÿš† ๐Ÿ›ซ

Last week we participated in the 30th anniversary of @easnie_edu , during their High-level event - Inclusive Education Shaping the Future โœจ Our director Brikena Xhomaqi spoke at the panel Inclusive Education: "Building a societal Consensus", highlighting the crucial role of Lifelong Learning as a pathway to inclusion throughout oneโ€™s life. Some key takeaways: โ€ข Inclusion goes beyond access and participation: it encompasses learners' well-being and belonging, and meaningful participation. It's about creating flexible and innovative learning environments that benefit everyone โ€ข Need for capacity building: many institutions and educational providers struggle with the 'how-to' of implementing inclusion. It's essential to enhance institutional strategies and support educators and staff in the education and training sector to promote inclusion. โ€ข Whole- society approach and system-wide collaboration: Learning doesn't just happen in schools - it occurs in communities, workplaces, and beyond. We must ensure support continues across different environments, allowing for seamless transitions throughout a learner's journey. We are committed to continuing our efforts towards a more inclusive society through learning, currently in particular through two initiatives: STRIDE and ImpactBox (check them out on our website!)

Today, in northern Italy, a school teacher was stabbed by one of her 13yo pupils. This is simply unacceptable. Learning and teaching demand safe spaces as a prerequisite. And evidence tells us that unsafe schools are linked with insufficient teacher support. We want a Europe where the safety of #learning environments is a given for everyone. Read our Steering Committee op-ed by our General-Secretary Raffaela Kihrer, a wake-up call for European #education and #training policies. Link to the op-ed in the bio!

We attended last week the Research Week 2026 hosted by the Centre for Sustainable Entrepreneurship (@odisee ) in the framework of the TEACH4SD COVE project (teach4sd.eu) funded by Erasmus+. We had the chance to exchange on which are the future-proof competences that are needed and how to provide students and professionals with these competences. We join their call to work across education sectors and industries, including local communities, to empower educators and co-create a sustainable and innovative future by advancing key sustainability competences. ๐Ÿคฉ
