Today, I find myself reflecting on a journey that started in 2014, an effort to magnify Mr Ailey’s mission to bring dance to the people. What started as an idea has grown into something more meaningful.
On my path I have met some incredible people, musicians, and artists shaped by their community. Each city had its own “blood memories” with its unique history, rhythms, and stories that were shared on the dance floor.
Accessibility has always been at the heart of my work. I believe in breaking barriers and rethinking who gets to benefit from the services inspired by Alvin Ailey’s vision and legacy.
I’m not talking about just physical access, I’m talking about spirit - who feels seen, who feels welcomed, who believes that they belong in spaces of joy, movement, and expression. I’ve always believed that dance is a universal language that is not reserved for the select few. DANCE IS FOR EVERYONE.
To all the AILEY EXPERIENCE cities and wonderful people I have met along the way I am humbly grateful to you for sharing your spirit, your energy, and your passion for movement. Thank you for trusting the process and for reminding me why this mission matters. I’ve had the privilege to witness people step into themselves through Mr Ailey’s work.
There is still more work to do and more people to reach! Your spirit inspires me to continue to work in what this vision can be!!!
