Rise & Grind â âDeath is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live.â â Norman Cousins
My heart is still heavy as I send this message. On Sunday, March 30th, our beloved brother
@bishopbrigante passed away, surrounded by family and close friends, after a long battle with colorectal cancer.
I still remember in 2003 when I had the incredible opportunity to create branding for the Awesome collective, where Bishop was one of the featured artistsâalongside projects like Big Black Lincoln and
@kingreignthe1st
There are no words that can fully summarize Bishopâs contributions to the Toronto hip-hop scene, but his impact on the Scarborough community as a whole is legendary. He was one of the most optimistic, caring, and warm-hearted people âa true definition of an entrepreneurial spirit.
Thank you, Bishop, for allowing me to have that personal one on one interview. Shout out to
@djmercilless for filming this monumental moment. âI still get goosebumps every time I watch it. Our last conversation was so necessary for both of us. Even when you werenât well, you made it your mission to be of service to me. You touched so many lives, Your presence will be deeply missed.
Letâs spread hope, fight for a cure, advocate for others, and push for changes in healthcare. If we can create something good from these stories, we are teaching our kids, our friends, our families, and our community that purpose can be found even in the hardest momentsâeven in cancer.
Bishop made it his mission to raise awareness about colorectal cancer and the need to lower the screening age, so this type of cancer can be detected earlier. The biggest increase in cases is among young adults under 40 in Canadaâlet alone under 45 in the U.S. Bishop even brought this issue to the Canadian Parliament, pushing for real change.
I send my deepest condolences to his wife Mel, his son Lito and all of Bishopâs family and friends.
Rest in Power.
