We Did It — Thank You! 🙌🏽 We’re truly beyond grateful to everyone who showed up, gave generously, and supported The Moby Dick’s Community Fundraiser. We’ve just received the final numbers and thanks to your kindness and enthusiasm, we raised an incredible $36,395! After covering costs, we’re proud to share that we were able to walk away with $27,074—funds that will go directly toward supporting the Moby Dick’s Community, Live Your Lemon, Chich’s Salsiches and The Lemontree. What moved us all most wasn’t just the total raised, but the overwhelming sense of community that filled the room (and our hearts). The energy, the conversations, the collective spirit—it was something truly special. Whether you donated, volunteered, shared, performed, danced the night away, helped us set up and pack down or simply cheered us on—thank you. Your support made this possible, and it means more than words can express. A special shoutout to everyone who took part in our raffle and auction. We’re truly grateful to all who donated to the cause, and a big thank you to Jarrah Volpe for facilitating the event and taking it to the next level. 🎮 A massive THANK YOU to all the retro-gamers who stopped by our interactive stall at the Moby Dick Fundraiser this weekend! Watching your faces light up with pure nostalgia as you reconnected with the games of your childhood—that’s what it’s all about. Moments like those are why we do what we do. 👀 We also managed to sneak in a soft launch of a brand new console (not even on the website yet!)—and it was a total hit! After the last minute cancellation of Esoteric Festival, The Moby Dick community and small business’s involved in bringing you the chill space at Eso are coming together this Saturday at our Northside warehouse. This event is designed to raise much needed funds. The small businesses that operate at this stage lost all of their investment in perishable stock, building materials, business fees, staff wages, hire trucks & more. This Saturday is not just about asking for donations, this is a Moby Dick’s experience including work shops, market stalls, live performers, live music, DJ’s and delicious gourmet food brought to you by Live your Lemon & Chich’s Salsiches. All tickets include 1 x meal voucher to either Live your Lemon or Chich’s Salsiches which is redeemable at the event. Earlier this year, Esoteric festival was cancelled on the day it was supposed to take place. Thousands were stranded and the festival crew was utterly devastated. Tuli (@i_am_alchemy_melbourne ) is a much-loved regular at HeartBeats who you can sometimes find serving chai, and often up on stage performing or jamming. She also happens to be the hard working director of the Moby Dick stage at Esoteric. After months and countless hours of work to prefer for the festival, it was all ripped away from her and the team. She wrote an article on the HeartBeats Substack to share her story of the festival cancellation experience. Herself, and the Moby Dick crew will be holding a special fundraiser this Saturday the 26th April (10pm-late) to make up for the thousands of dollars lost by them due to the cancellation. Attention friends and family; I am personally in the toughest spot I've ever been in. I am struggling dealing with what life has handed me recently and this is me reaching out for support. (Link to support us in Bio.) As some of you may know, Esoteric festival was cancelled at the very last minute a few weeks ago. It is our biggest event of the year.. myself and the team deeply depend on it to support ourselves and survive. Our community also deeply depends on it the same to express creatively and share their art with the world. It is the event we look forward to most in the year. And it requires a HUGE ammount of time, resources and money to orchestrate. We were blessed enough to pivot and move to pitch but unfortunately were not even able to recouperate 10% of what we invested. It really has been a big hit.. It's hard to put into words how strongly this has impacted the survival of our small businesses, myself, and the community, but ill give it a go. We spend months.. Planning, preparing, creating. Thousands of hours between us all. Collecting decor, designing stages, curating artist set times, building teams, preparing food, ect.. It's a much bigger operation than most would imagine.. We pour our hearts and souls into this project and have been for 5 years. It has been the lungs to Live Your Lemon, the Lemon Tree Community and now Chich's Salsiches, with more growth and expansion each year. So this year, like every year, we went all in. I co-manage/own 3 food/drink stalls. I'll break it down a little.. Theres a total of 30 staff on the team across the rosters, we operate a minimum of 21 hours a day and do so for 6 days straight.. Quite often working all the way through the night and into the morning. Our operation frontage is 18 meters, we serve thousands of meals/drinks throughout the week, which means a hugeee ammount of stock.. We were there, oranges skinned, guns blazzing, ready to go. 2 x big 3 pallet truckloads full. At cost price, roughly $60,000 worth of food and beverage. A huge chunk of finacial outlay required pre event, and thats not all.. This, plus business fees, 3 trucks hired for the week, council permits, (continued in comments..)

Now that dust has officially settled, we just want to say a big thank you for the overwhelming support we’ve received over the last 11 days. We’re honestly a little bit shook. To this incredible community that we consider ourselves privileged to be apart of. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your pure kindness and generosity. Yesterday was such an overwhelmingly beautiful day. We opened our home as a shop and we can’t believe that with your help we were able to re-home all of our fresh produce. We had family, old friends, new friends, friends of friends and complete strangers come to us with open arms to help us complete our mission. We are completely exhausted, yet you all gave us the energy and ability to get to the end of what’s been the wildest time while still smiling. We’ve had the incredible @liveyourlemon & @chichs.salsiches team continuously lift our spirits in the midsts of an absolute shit show and now this amazing community to help pull us over the line. But after hundreds upon hundreds of interactions and conversations inside this community regarding the turn of events that unfolded at @esoteric_festival we know that there are a lot of people who find themselves in challenging times post this unfortunate cancellation. Although we moved all of our perishable produce, we still have thousands of dollars worth of food that we had prepared for the festival that needs to be cooked, and we want to feed you! We also feel it right to share the love and have decided it’s only fitting to tap into our dense recourses. With the help of our amazing friends we’ll be putting together a fundraiser event designed to lift spirits and help the wider community. This will be a day to night event and we’re calling upon market stall holders, artists, sound healers, yoga instructors, performers, musicians and anyone else who would like to be involved in any way shape or form. We’ve learnt that in the darkest times this collective of humans really do show up for one another and our love and energy runs deeper than a dancefloor. We’re excited to see what we can create if we all band together and do what we do best! Have a good fucking time!

…you join forces with the @liveyourlemon crew and pivot. Over a week ago we started the extreme task of setting up Chich’s at Esoteric Festival. The endeavor of popping up an industrial kitchen in the bush that can serve gourmet food to thousands of people for 5+ days… well you can imagine. We’ve spent months prepping and it took the Chich’s team 3 days to pack, drive and set up our store. We spent an entire day doing food-prep on site to be ready for service at 6pm on Thursday. Only to be told within the same hour of finishing the set up that the festival was cancelled. Devastated is an understatement 💔 Not only is the monstrous task physically challenging, but we put a lot of heart as well as hard earned money into this project. Thousands of dollars is invested in food, drinks, equipment, hiring fridge trucks, freezer trucks and moving trucks, staff and stall fees. Although the weekend wasn’t the one that we had planned for, we can’t help but see the silver lining which was our incredible community of friends who supported us and our mission. We decided almost immediately that despite the shitty cards dealt, we were still going to do what we set out to. We’re incredibly blessed to have an amazing team who backed us in every way to make it happen. The wonderful guys and girls at Pitch - you are literal angels. We know how much planning goes into every inch of running a festival, so to give us a space in the final hour. We can’t thank you enough. & to the beautiful ‘🌭Chich Your Lemon 🍋’ team. What an incredible bunch of absolute weapons you are. Not only did you all work day and night to set up at Eso, only to pack up not 1, but 2 stalls, drive 3 hours and work through the night (again) to erect one new hybrid food stall. You all did it with big smiles, lots of jokes and so much laughter. Reminding us why we do this in the first place. Continued in comments…
