When I first saw the TFI Wildcard competition announced, I thought, “Oh my god, how amazing would that be?” and then I questioned myself. Could I really make a film worthy of it? I’ve been sitting on this personally challenging content for five months. Watching it back was tough. The experiences we captured were incredibly fierce and once in a lifetime, and I still can’t comprehend that these events happened! I knew this story was meant for the TFI audience. I have no idea how Australia will receive it. It’s probably not what you’d expect from us. But this film captures the highs and lows of our last year on the Ningaloo coast, and it means a lot to us to share our story. We’d love your support. Even just sharing this trailer with three of your friends now or getting ready to vote in March would mean the world. 🙏 You need to see this film to believe it 😋🙌

Three years ago, we had a dream. And it might be your dream too... To take your kids around Australia, live in a caravan and experience what our country is really like - first hand. I can’t describe how much this experience can change you, can shape your children and give you a perspective on life that only the open road can give you. I know times are hard in a world of chaos at the moment, but taking risks, building on your dream and leaping into uncertainty is well worth it. Getting out there and ‘feeling’ Australia will change your life. This short film marks our three years on the road. One decision, changed everything. Keep your dream alive, despite what is happening in the world around us. We (the Live Yonder family) are in the running to win The Film Invitational Wildcard 2026 competition, if you want to see a caravan family who thrives on adventure in competiton against top creators, vote us in before April 7. You can watch our film ‘BEYOND FEAR’ and vote via @thefilminvitational website. The link is in our bio. Thank you so much! Ben, Jo, Zara and Max xx Thank you @pro_touring_concepts for all your support 🙏

This Station Stay surprised us… 📍Barn Hill Station, Roebuck Bay near Broome Barn Hill Station might just be one of Northern WA’s best coastal camp spots. Tucked between Broome and Port Hedland, this working cattle station sits right on the edge of the Indian Ocean, offering everything from powered caravan sites to bush camping with million dollar views. We spent our days swimming in the rock pools, spotting marine life along the shoreline, snorkelling around the rocky points (be croc aware) and exploring the incredible Lost City formations. The kids loved the station playground, and the bakery goods quickly became a daily habit. There’s something special about this place. Red cliffs, turquoise water, rugged coastline and that laid back station feel that makes you want to stay longer than planned. If you’re heading up the coast towards Broome, make sure Barn Hill Station is on your list. It’s one of those spots that truly feels like the magic of remote WA travel. We loved it so much we are heading back there soon, this time to get the boat out because the fishing is incredible. Have you been to Barn Hill yet?

You’re a family dreaming of travelling Australia… but every time you think about actually making it happen, it feels impossible. The money. The kids. Schooling. Work. The fear of leaving “normal” life behind. Where do you even start? Trust me… we get it. We were once the family binge-watching caravanning videos at night thinking, “Imagine if we could actually do that one day…” Here’s what changed everything for us 👇 ✨ We picked a leave date — even before we felt ready. 1 year, 3 years… whatever works for your family. Just choose a timeline. Because once there’s a date, your decisions start aligning with that future. ✨ We committed financially before we felt comfortable. In our case, we put a deposit on a caravan. Suddenly this wasn’t just a dream anymore… it became the plan. We HAD to make it happen. ✨ We sorted schooling before we left. Finding distance education/homeschool options early removed so much fear and stress. ✨ We simplified our life. Sold things. Cut unnecessary expenses. Started focusing less on “stuff” and knowing you are going to live in a caravan, you have to cut down what you have. Funds from selling stuff we kept and never used help fuel our travels. ✨ We stopped waiting to feel 100% ready. Because honestly? I don’t think anyone ever fully is. Travelling Australia with kids isn’t always easy… but neither is staying stuck in a life you’ve outgrown. If your family dreams of road trips, freedom, campfires, beach days, and showing your kids a different way to live… maybe this is your sign to start making a plan 🤍 Follow along for the real behind-the-scenes of full-time caravanning Australia as a family of four. #travellingaustralia #caravanlifeaustralia #familytravel #biglapaustralia #fulltimecaravanlife

What you might not know about us as parents… We actually encourage our girls to do hard, uncomfortable and sometimes scary things. Not because we want them to be fearless…
But because we want them to know they are capable. We want them to grow up understanding that curiosity and fear often exist together. That some of the best experiences in life happen when you’re brave enough to explore beyond what feels comfortable. So we raise them through experience.
Through travel, adventure and real life. We let them touch things, ask questions, get dirty, explore nature and learn firsthand about the world around them. And when they feel nervous or unsure, we don’t instantly remove them from the situation.
We coach them through it. Because confidence isn’t built by avoiding hard things.
It’s built by moving through them. Every human gets scared. Us included.
But we want our girls to see that fear doesn’t have to stop you from fully experiencing life. In a world pulling kids more and more toward screens and technology, we’re trying to pull ours toward curiosity, adventure and the real world instead 🤍 If you are new here, welcome - we are a family of four who has been caravanning Australia for three years and we would love you to join us on this crazy journey. Please note, that we did not harm this shark. It was caught on the beach by someone, died in the process and wasn’t disposed of properly. We happened to see it on the beach and had it dealt with properly. #caravanningaustralia #homeschooling #travelkids #caravanningwithkids

Who swats the flies first? In the north-west of Australia, the flies are very bad at this time of the year. With recent cyclones passing through, it makes it a breeding ground for all bugs. We have been caravanning Australia for a while now and at this roadside stop they were particularly bad! We’d say we hate mozzies, midges and sand flies the most but the flies have the ability to send you temporarily mad. Which one are you? Ben who can hold it no problem, or me, Jo who has to swat them?

We chase moments like this… Parked up on a beach, not a person in sight and having the sunset all to yourself. We find it’s so rare to feel completely alone somewhere in Australia these days. So when the opportunity comes up where we can feel true isolation, we take it. 4wding is an expensive hobby at the moment, but we blissfully ignore it 😂 well we just are spending less in other areas to make travelling Australia work. Who else is in the hunt for those social spots that you can call your own for a sunset? #4wding #travel #caravanningaustralia #travelfamily westernaustralia

You should ask yourself, who designed your life? At one stage, our life was based round our 40hr work week, the kids schooling and care. The weekend would roll around and we would just rest and recoup before we do it all again. It’s taken me a lot to say no to big things in life… No, I don’t need to send my kid to school No, I don’t need to sit at a desk for 8hrs a day No, I don’t need to live in a house No, I don’t need to live for the weekend No, I don’t need to wear make up No, I don’t need to wake up by an alarm No, I don’t need to raise my kids with a routine No, I don’t need to have to work when the weather is amazing Along with my family, we have designed a life outside of what is considered the norm. We might be called gypsies, nomads, plebs… But what you wouldn’t see on the surface is that we have big ideas of what we want to do in life, investments, a feeling of true freedom and we don’t owe anyone anything. No regrets is selling all our crap to live on the road, can highly recommend giving this way of living a crack for a while. The free feeling is pretty incredible. So if you have considered caravanning, travelling Australia then go for it. It’s sooooo worth it! And hopefully see you out there 👋🫶 #travelfamily #caravanningaustralia #travelaustralia #caravanningwithkids #australia

It was a choice. 🤍 A few years ago, we had the house, the jobs, the routine, the mortgage… all the things you’re told you’re supposed to want. On paper, life looked good. But deep down, we felt like we were missing the best parts of life while waiting for weekends and annual leave to roll around. So we chose differently. We traded the house for a caravan. Swapped stuff for experiences. Chose less rushing for more freedom. And yep… people still ask us the same questions all the time 😂 “Don’t you get sick of being together 24/7?” “Where do you put all your stuff?” “What about school?” “How do you make money?” “What’s the backup plan?” Truthfully? We don’t stress about these things… we just let them flow. When a problem pops up, we solve it then rather than worrying about when it might happen. And yes, we have funds saved for a rainy day. Living on the road has taught us that you actually need far less than you think to live a really beautiful life. The kids are learning through real experiences, we spend our days exploring incredible parts of Australia, and our time no longer revolves around a mortgage repayment. We are not tied down to anything. That doesn’t mean it’s always easy. It takes sacrifice. There are hard days, breakdowns, messy moments, and plenty of unknowns. But we’d take this kind of hard over the old kind any day where we didnt feel free. One of the biggest things we’ve learnt while travelling Australia full-time is that this lifestyle is far more achievable than most people realise. Free camps, low-cost travel, simple living, remote work, casual jobs on the road… there are so many ways to make it work when you stop believing you need the “normal” version of life. Life’s short. Do the trip. Take the chance. Live your version of freedom. And if this lifestyle has ever crossed your mind… maybe this is your sign. * About us * Ex-corporate working couple from South Australia, living a nomad life with our two kids, diving, fishing, 4wding Australia one camp at a time.
