🍄‍🟫🔥THE FORAGER’S JOURNEY CAMPOUT🔥🍄‍🟫 Secreted away in wooded hills above Hebden Bridge, our Forager’s Journey group settled amongst the rowan and birch for crafting, weaving community, and cosy times around the campfire. We also managed to have three puddings after tea, which felt very hobbity! Beautiful containers were crafted from willow bark and nettle, ready to be filled with berries and seeds. Poems, delicious treats, stories and laughter - the weekend was special indeed. We were also delighted to find plenty of mushrooms popping up! ✨

☘THE FORAGER'S JOURNEY 2026 - Part II ☘ On our long-term foraging programme, The Forager's Journey, we celebrated the season's sweetness and the arrival of summer with song, ceremony, and sweet woodruff cake in one of our favourite local spots. Following in the footsteps of past peoples, we journeyed through bluebell-scented woods, meeting an array of edible flowers, seeds and shoots along the way. Around an old stone bridge grows a very special plant. Common bistort, also known by a variety of other enigmatic names including adderwort, dockings, ledger, and snake root, has been picked locally for centuries at least, and used to make the traditional Calderdale dish, dock pudding. We cooked up our own version using a recipe from the 1800s, and enjoyed this hearty, nourishing wild snack in the sun with the stream flowing beside us. A magical day, honouring historic wild food traditions and making new ones of our own. We are excited for the next adventure together this weekend 🌞 #theforagersjourney #dockpudding #sweetwoodruff

🌱FORAGING IN THE BLUEBELL WOOD🌱 We had a wonderful day of spring foraging with a recent group, celebrating the Calderdale tradition of making 'dock pudding' by cooking up our own version over the fire. Our woodland basecamp was surrounded by bluebells, and the air smelled so sweet! With the hedgerows bursting to life, we found an array of tasty edibles and there was much laughter and joy at this beautiful time of year amongst the flowers and blossom. Thanks to all who came along and made it such a fun, joyful day 🌞 #hebdenbridge #calderdale #westyorkshire

🍃SPRING FORAGING COURSES🍃 Our spring foraging courses are in full swing, and we've had a wonderful time wandering in the bluebell woods with fantastic groups of people. Buds, fungi, shoots and sap... there have been so many wild treats to enjoy! For Easter weekend, we also cooked up a special local dish over the fire - dock pudding. This savoury pudding, made with common bistort, has been eaten in Calderdale for hundreds of years. It tasted delicious cooked over the fire and enjoyed with ramson pesto! Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the days so special 🌞 #dockpudding #foraginguk #livewild #calderdale
