Sabrina and Lorenzo - part 5 ✨
After the heavy rain showers and hailstorms of the last few days I'm definitely missing the sunshine from Sabrina and Lorenzo's wedding day 🫣 one of the best things I have for my illustration station is a little usb lamp, so even if the weather does go downhill or I'm working into the evening I'll still have consistent lighting to see what I'm doing!

The most incredible day at @ravenswoodvenue for Veronica and Luke's big day! The weather may have been a little bit hit and miss (there were beautiful blue skies at some points!) but that didn't stop the whole day being stunning. I mean, just look at those incredible flowers from @thebloominatiflorist 😍
Altogether we ended up illustrating 71 people today, so now I'm enjoying a well earned takeaway on the sofa before doing it all again tomorrow ❤️

Sabrina and Lorenzo's wedding - part 4 🌷
I've really been slacking with posting these, but it's just because I've been super busy! This wedding was so much fun, and a big part of what made it great for me was the music! Sabrina and Lorenzo chose to have instrumental soundtracks from their favourite films and video games playing throughout the bar area. I'm always happy to illustrate anywhere - I've been in areas that are pretty much silent, and I've been right next to the dance floor - but it's so nice to have some background music playing during quieter times, like while everyone is off having photos taken or eating! It just keeps the ambience going ✨

"Oh I don't know their name but I know exactly who that is!!" - something that gets said at pretty much every event I work at 🥰 I pride myself on capturing likenesses, so for total strangers to be able to figure out who is in each illustration is super important to me! It also acts as a great ice breaker and talking point as people show off their illustrations ❤️

There's something so special about a spring wedding. There's so many options that match the vibe so well, and Sabrina and Lorenzo picked a perfect one! Lots of lilacs and pastel blues, STUNNING tree centrepieces, enchanted forest motifs, and even a tarot card reader. I'm a fantasy girly at heart so this was all right up my street! It was like illustrating in a little enchanted glade. When you add in the glorious sunny weather it was just a perfect day! I feel so honoured to be a part of all my couples special days, especially when they're as gorgeous as this one was 💖

My top five wedding horror stories as a live illustrator ✨
1. "you could use AI for that" 🙃 I don't, and will never, use AI for my business. AI didn't go to uni and study illustration for me, so why would I let it replace the fun part of actually drawing at events?!
2. children trying to steal my pens. look, I get it, they're colourful and look fun! but they're also expensive, so please keep grabby hands away from my kit!
3. "oh this looks like a fun little hobby" it is really fun, but it's also my job! please don't downplay how much work I've put into it
4. Wobbly tables - the bane of my LIFE. Do you know how hard it is to draw for 8 hours on a table that doesn't want to stay still?!
5. "so what's your real job?" this. this is my real job. I'm incredibly fortunate to be able to do this, but it is still a real job!

When I'm illustrating, I don't just try to capture a likeness. It's all well and good having a reminder of the outfit you wore once, but the main focus of my illustrations is capturing what makes you, you. Your smile and how you interact with your loved ones are things I look for alongside your appearance/hair/outfit to create a keepsake that actually captures who you are 💖

I'm so happy that the weather was so incredible at the weekend! I'm very much a winter person instead of summer, but sometimes you can't beat a bit of sunshine. It made all the lovely colourful florals even more beautiful! There was actually another wedding party going on next door too, so the whole area was just full of people celebrating, it was such a lovely atmosphere 💖
