Back in Nash from FAI. Ended with a headache: car died in New Orleans and had to be salvaged. Very grateful to @sarabethgo@nathankmusic and @shlomofranklin for shlepping me around and helping me problem solve/stay organized in the midst of it. A car (full of stuff) breaking down 8 hours away from home is a massive headache. Go check out their musics. Even if they weren’t such helpful people, they’re all genuinely great songwriters.
#cubecon2025 Cubecon in Madison, WI remains the most fun mtg event.
1) Jeremy’s peasant cube
2) Dozer’s artifact cube
3) old bordered foil cube
4) bar cube (cards sharpied to take them from unplayable to busted)
5) Forget which exactly, but it was another comprised of all old bordered
6) Don’t know which this was, because I didn’t select it, just got put into it. Funnily enough was the only one I trophied
7) Top Gun cube. Neat idea, hopefully coming to a cube event near you (also the best looking proxy basics)
8) Penrose. My deck was so sick. At 1-2 I was robbed 😭
9) The fish tank. A desert cube featuring all merfolk.
10) Top 128 draft. Golden age of standard Innistrad - Eldritch Moon…or something like that? 2-1, but felt like this was a 3-0 deck.
*unfortunately didn’t get a pick of my top 64 draft, but bombed out there*
11) Our friend Nick made his own adventure time set. Was really fun to draft and test out.
First @swrfolkalliance
Windows were open when I played, but @trweinberg kindly took a couple shots after the set. Was a fun weekend with a wide range of weirdos from around the south-ish west-ish
A rare songwriting occurrence for me: a bridge with lyrics. Actually it’s just an extended pre-chorus, but still counts. Video by @anthonysimpkins and a little added sound touches from my man @sotight.soil #nashville #indiefolk #songwriting #acousticguitar #fingerpicking
