best thing to happen in 2023: I finally got to play my hometown and it was dreamier than I could have ever imagined 🧄🌴🌞🏳️🌈🌉 (more tour dumps coming soon)
TL; DR Reflecting on a year laden with tragedy, heartbreak, and loss, I can’t help but recall one very special, magical week in March, when my biggest wish, my childhood dream came true. After three seasons on tour performing for every corner of this country apart from the one I call home, Fiddler on the Roof played it’s final week-long engagement at the Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco. Growing up, all I ever wanted was to dance in a Broadway tour, but I always knew the greatest reward would be to perform on the very stage where that dream was born. One of those mountaintop moments where I get to say, “look ma, I made it!” After the show I’d walk through the stage door to be greeted by the village who got me there and I’d get to thank them for their unyielding support and faith in me. I’d spend the days tearing up Market St, playing tour guide for my cast mates and relishing in the fact that I get to call such a fabulous city my home. I would finally get to perform for my family, many of whom had never been to a Broadway show or even a live musical, and sharing this joy, my livelihood, with them would somehow make all of our sacrifices worthwhile. Can you believe it all came true? I still can’t! I cry every time I remember it happened. And that ENTRANCE APPLAUSE was just icing on the cake! 🤭 Even the most bright-eyed bushy-tailed Ali could not have imagined THAT. Or that I’d have over 30 family members sitting together wearing “Ali Molaei Fan Club” t-shirts emblazoned with my face? You can’t write this shit!!!! It was without a doubt my favorite day ever on tour, maybe my life. I’ll hold every memory of this week close to my heart, as long as I live. I have never in my life felt so seen, so held, and so deeply loved. Alhamdulilah 💜💜💜
NOLA 💜 without a doubt the most incredible city I’ve experienced on tour. breathtaking food, music, and art everywhere we went…. who could ask for anything more???? what an honor it was for our show to be embraced by such an uplifting and resilient community 💞
