This 2005 Chevy C6 Corvette recently came into the shop for a full stereo upgrade and some custom work. DB Drive Euphoria neodymium 8” midbass and 3.5” midrange speakers were added to the factory location in the front doors and dash. Red LED’s were installed into the doors to illuminate the new 8” midbass speakers. With Euphoria 1” tweeters added to the a-pillars and 5.25” coaxial speakers added to the rear locations. The speakers are all powered by the 8-channel WDX DSP amplifier and the 8” WDX subwoofers are run on a Euphoria 1500W RMS amplifier.
An Alpine touchscreen double DIN radio was previously installed to head the entire system. SoundShield deadening material was added to the doors and custom ABS speaker plates were built for all of the speakers. The bass knob was installed into the center console bezel for a clean flushed in look with the LED switch located inside the console armrest. The custom sealed sub enclosure built for the 8” WDX’s also holds the two amplifiers which are covered with a custom built mesh grill that is backlit with red LED’s.
While we had the Vette we added some wheel well lighting for further underglow coverage. A back up camera was also integrated into the system. The factory battery was swapped out for a much larger Shuriken AGM power cell to help alleviate some of the draw from the new amplifiers, and the “Big 3 Upgrade” was performed to also help. 0 Gauge T-Spec OFC wire was used throughout the installation with full runs of power and ground being sent to the rear audio components.
The entire stereo is run active and provides a very loud, yet full, audio output. We do not often use DB Drive products at LIS Audio, but overall we were pleasantly surprised with the outcome of this new stereo upgrade. A good deal of wiring and custom work went into this ‘18 Dodge Challenger to upgrade its entire stereo system. We built custom door pods for two sets of Memphis Car Audio MOJO 6.5” midbass speakers, a set of Audio Dynamics 3000 series 3” midrange speakers and a set of Memphis Car Audio MOJO 1” pro audio tweeters. Matching 3” midrange speakers were installed into the dash. XKGlow lighting was added to the pods and trunk to accent the new custom work.
In the trunk we built a custom ported sub enclosure for two 12” JL Audio W6 subwoofers powered by a Massive audio mono amplifier with an AudioControl Epicenter on it, to restore the bass in some of those nearly “bass’less” old school songs. Two AudioControl Epic series amps run all of the front speakers, while the rear deck lid speakers were all removed to allow more bass to flow into the cabin from the trunk. We added our Custom Rear Deck Perforation to open it up airflow even more and make it look good.
A large Shuriken AGM battery was installed in place of the factory battery into the spare tire well, which is where all the amplifiers and processors are at as well. A Kenwood touchscreen media player and AudioControl DM810 DSP were installed to head and tune the entire system. The DSP controller and bass knob were flushed into the pocket near the shifter for a factory look and for ergonomics. Hushmat sound deadener was add to the doors, trunk, trunk lid and rear deck lid. #LISaudioKC #KansasCity #customcaraudio #dodgechallenger #kcmo

Rear Seat Delete or Additional Storage Delete
Some coupes and convertibles have such limited rear seat or storage space, so it can be ideal to do a “delete” kit that allows for a sub-stage to be added without giving up trunk/boot space. For some vehicles this could merely be a dress panel to display items at events or add a bit more to the theme of the build. In the case of custom street rod vehicles, they may have a roll cage in the rear that a sub-stage can be cleanly built into.
Being able to add the majority of the sub-stage weight, which is typically from the subs and box, in front of the rear axle also helps to better distribute the weight in the vehicle. Rather than having all the sub and box weight behind the rear axle in the trunk, which is common for most vehicles. Installing the subs and box inside the cabin area, and closer to the listeners, will have an added benefit of making the bass audibly louder. Thus further maximizing the potential of the new sub-stage.

When it comes to adding a sub-stage to a Coupe or a Sedan sometimes it’s a challenge to get the bass from the trunk through the seats and into the cabin. Our Custom Rear Deck Perforations are crucial to maximizing the bass in the cabin. These custom built grilles are pretty dress panels to the slightly modified sheet metal underneath. We add a whole large enough for the bass to bass through then lay sound deadener across the surface and edges. With this simple little upgrade, there’s an immediate increase in bass output into the cabin and makes it no longer necessary to fold a rear seat down to get that extra output. #LISaudioKC

Hidden Parcel Shelf Sub-stage OR Big Bass Back Seat Delete?? - Porsche Edition
A couple of different options offered for different styles of convertible Porsches. Fitting the subs and box onto the parcel shelf, which is also the engine cover, is a nice option to keep everything out of the way. Another option is to delete the rear seats and build the sub enclosure into that space. Either way, adding some additional bass isn’t the largest challenge in these vehicles. #LISaudioKC
