I have been fortunate enough to experience arts ecosystems across the country in many cities during my career in the arts. Columbus, OH still ranks at the top of my list because of the people. Moving is hard but it means that I have people around the world that feel like intellectual and cultural kin. #ToshaStimage was one of those people. A world without her isn’t fair and so difficult among the ever challenged landscape that is the SF Bay Area Artworld. Thank you for always being your authentic self, Tosha. I will miss your beauty everyday.

I had a beautiful weekend with @skate.hvn at MASS MoCA learning to build and dream. There was skating indoors thanks to @marymlum ‘s installation. The Jam was a huge success, thank you to everyone that came out to make that happen. ❤️
Representation & the Public Record will convene artists, historians, and designers to draw out the intersection of two key themes: how individuals and groups are represented in public discourse, media, and institutions, and the role of public records in shaping this representation. The day will include presentations and conversations with artists delving into practical aspects of investigative journalism, archival research methods, and data analysis. Presenters include Bilal Ansari, Heather Hart, Michael Hartman, Jeffrey Gibson, Steve Locke, Jami Powell, and Nate Young.
The work these artists and colleagues are doing is remarkable and necessary. As we witness the daily disregard for decades of public work, this is an exceptional opportunity to be inspired by the passion and commitment of these artists to create a more complex record of our present moment. RAPR includes Jeffrey Gibson, Steve Locke, and Nate Young, providing visitors another opportunity to hear from artists currently in our galleries. The additional conveners have deep roots in Berkshire County which I hope will uplift and shine light on their stories.
