Heโs Daniel, but within the scene everyone knows him as @lis_spoon . At 34, he has been tied to electronic music since he was 16, when the sound first hooked him and never let go. While he has been part of the culture ever since, it was about eight years ago that he began taking the craft seriously and shaping his own path behind the decks.
His inspiration did not come from a single artist. It came from those early nights when the scene was raw and stripped down, with no distractions, just the DJ and the crowd locked in together. That unfiltered energy was enough to push him to start.
For Spoon, technical skills like beatmatching, mixing and track selection matter, but they are not the core of it. What truly counts is the ability to feel the crowd, build energy and create that unspoken connection where music speaks louder than words.
To stay sharp, he checks music platforms a few times a week. But his real inspiration comes from the dancefloor itself. The sounds and energy of the room linger, driving him to dig for fresh, evolved tracks that he then weaves into his own sound.
He has deep admiration for Maltaโs local DJs, many of whom are friends and some who even feel like family. They are the reason the islandโs techno scene is so strong. But the deepest influence on his journey comes from the resident DJs and founders of @in.di.go_wax_mt / : @gordon_flashmt , @muskixpose and @patient_dj . Following them for the past eight years has shaped both his sound and his identity.
What makes it all worth it for Spoon is the crowdโs reaction, from the drop of the first track to the intensity of peak moments and the emotional breaks. Without words, you can see and feel the music connecting with people. That energy, especially with a crowd that truly understands it, is the most rewarding part of what he does.
