🌊 Guest Announcement #1 🌊 🎤CHUNKY - Hailing from the musical metropolis that is Manchester, @mcrchunky continues to be one of the hardest working MC/DJ/Producers in the game. Chunky is a proud Mancunian with roots in Zimbabwe (having relocated from there as a child), helping explain his worldly, open-minded, outlook on life. Onstage, this translates into a rare ability to work any crowd into a frenzy, whilst handling everything from the latest, bass-heavy cuts to live jazz with consummate ease. Chunky’s voice has been the sound of the UK underground for more than a decade. As an MC, he’s a magnetic presence with an immaculate pen game. His catchy turns of phrase made him a standout fixture at @swamp81 , @hessleaudio , @hoya_hoya and Hit & Run parties, forming a symbiotic partnership with affiliates such as Loefah, Zed Bias, Dub Phizix, Biome, @chimpomcr , Pearson Sound and Jonny Dub. As rapper and producer, he’s a multi-headed hydra chomping into hip hop and grime with the same ease as drum ‘n’ bass and leftfield techno. Recent releases such as ‘My Corner’ alongside long-time collaborator Chimpo, and standout tunes ‘Meh’ and ‘GNG’ from his latest album ‘Somebody’s Child’, alongside our own experiences in the crowd during his unmistakable sound and energy at @outlookfestival , made him a long-time hero for getting onto a @liquidfunktiondnb lineup - and we’ve finally made it happen! His DJ sets take in all the genres created within the UK and all of the influences that inform them. Recently specialising in authentic old skool jungle, he infuses his other musical loves into his productions and sets, taking sounds, voices and rhythms from grime, dubstep, dancehall, hip hop and soul and stirring them into the pot ♨️ A musical triple threat, Chimpo brings production, DJing and vocals to the game and has truly earned legendary status amongst the scene. With two albums under his belt, countless bangers as solo productions as well as collabs and vocal features on some of dnbs biggest anthems of recent times and more dubplates than you can shake a usb stick at.. if you don’t know about Chimpo you’ve been living under a rock! We’re bringing Drum & Bass and Jungle back to favourite Cowgate haunt, @sneakypetesclub , this Halloween on Friday 31 October. Low ceiling, red lights, elbows in - exactly how it should be. Costumes encouraged: go feral or go minimal, just make sure it moves and dress to sweat! After last week’s roadblock with London’s Zar, we’re back with a familiar face - though he’s not originally from round here. Hospital Records’ @winslowxyz grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, carrying the flag for the US drum & bass family before relocating to Glasgow last year. A producer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist, composer, music teacher and tea enthusiast, he’s built a reputation for meticulous production, forward-thinking melodies and a rhythmic identity all his own. With releases on Spearhead, Soulvent, Goldfat, Pilot and Hospital, Winslow’s tunes have been championed by the likes of Mitekiss, High Contrast, London Elektricity, Nu:Tone, Workforce, Mr Porter - and our own upcoming September guest, @degsmusic . First drawn into drum & bass via video game soundtracks and early experiments in production, he’s since explored the genre’s full spectrum, from liquid rollers to sharper, tech-flecked cuts - always with that deep melodic touch. His Bongo debut last year was a proper highlight, so we can't wait to have him back later tonight @sneakypetesclub
