Whether he’s boat-riding the iconic Lake Powell or taking countless laps at Thai Wake Park, @guentheroka has a knack for riding aquatic boards, and makes them all look really cool. The first shot was one of the first photos we got at Powell. Guenther did a little slash and warm-up jump before boosting this big method right toward me and @withshanebonifay in the photo boat. The sun hadn’t fully come up over the cliffs where we were riding yet, but I knew instantly that photo was a sign of good things to come for the week. #wakeboarding #lakepowell #thaiwakepark

@melissa_marquardt is a badass. Period. During her legendary career she was often seen and treated as “one of the guys,” but don’t let that label fool you. Mel more than held her own, constantly pushing the boundaries of women’s wakeboarding — whether it was through her focus on stylish riding, boosting off double ups, hitting gnarly rails, or dropping insane winch spots. Mel did it all and she did it her own way, and the influence of her ways are still being felt and carried on in the sport today. Needless to say, Mel’s impact on Liquid Force is immeasurable, from the Canyon Lake/So-Cal/WSR connection to her bright-as-hell boots, graphics and beyond. How fucking cool did the base turn out with the full brain placed on it in the middle? This year yet again I feel like we can claim having created one of the coolest bottoms of a wakeboard. You wanna know why this year’s artwork of my pro model board is special to me? Let me take you through what’s behind the artwork that @nanelife_ made. All photos by @garrettcortese during the @liquidforcewake shoot last year First, I love trees. If you have known the Peak over the years you know that I’ve drawn trees for a few of the artworks already (2014, 2018, 2019, 2022). This time though it is Nane’s interpretation of a tree. In her creative mind, this tree is funky (growing a flower as well as a mushroom), but it also seems to suffer. Because it’s hard to grow? Or because it’s crazy what we do to nature? It’s crazy because I really feel like this is not any tree, but one that you can connect with because it is so unique. Have you noticed that the tree trunk is not colored but it’s the actual wood of the core? The best part though is below the tree. In what I think turned out as an awesome and unique positioning of the artwork with LF’s creative director @joehighfill you can see how the tree grows out of a hand which is holding a … a brain? Yes, a brain! The brain really is the centerpiece of the board, so much that I even have a tattoo of it. The hands holding it, the eyes on it… there is a lot of symbolism. Let me just tell you what it means to me: Everything we see, everything we touch and grab and hold, ultimately gets processed by the brain. The other way, too: everything we think really forms how we see and feel the world! So it is this balance and back and forth the shapes our experience. It is this what gave the topic to this board: INSPIRATION To have something coming from my own hand I have written these words about inspiration and we placed them around the tracks.
