The Hi-Stakes from Amsterdam bring explosive Rhythm & Blues, soulful blues ballads and grooving boogaloos straight to the stage. Fronted by vocalist and tenor saxophonist Sam Ghezzi, the quintet combines vintage sounds inspired by Louis Jordan, Percy Mayfield and late 50s Blue Note Records with original songs full of passion, irony and energy. Their distinctive sound is driven by a powerful twin tenor sax section and moves effortlessly between jazz and blues.

Jazz was never just music.
It was a meeting place,
where people of different backgrounds, cultures, and identities
found each other beyond labels, beyond judgment.
In dimly lit rooms and crowded basements,
a community was formed.
Not by sameness, but by sound, by freedom, by listening.
Through times of struggle, oppression, and war,
jazz became a quiet form of resistance
A way to speak when words were not enough,
to hold on to humanity when the world tried to divide it.
And tonight, we play again.
