Picture this: You had a stroke two years ago and have been struggling with speaking clearly ever since due to aphasia. Sure, your family can get the gist of what you mean most of the time, because they know you. But aphasia has left you feeling like you can’t say what you mean. 😔 And then you find out about speech devices. 💡 Mike found Lingraphica two years after his stroke, and it was a game changer for him. He’s made his device personal and uses it in his whole life to help him communicate: 🏠 at home 🛒 at the store 🩺 at the doctor’s office 🎞️ and even arranging movie nights with his family. “There are so many possibilities,” he says. Speech devices can help people with aphasia after a stroke get back to communicating in their lives -- even after a lot of time has passed. This National Stroke Awareness Month, we’re celebrating recovery from stroke at every stage and making conversations easier for everyone. 💬 Comment “Change” to get a link to Mike’s story.

🧐 Can AAC help someone with mild or moderate aphasia? Lori’s story shows us: YES! After a stroke, Lori was living with mild-moderate expressive aphasia and apraxia of speech. On some days, speaking felt okay. Other days, finding words felt impossible — especially when she was tired or stressed. Her communication device turned out to be the *most* important thing in those tired or stressed moments. Because when speaking felt difficult, Lori knew she always had a reliable "backup voice." AAC also became her personalized way to rebuild confidence in her speech and prepare for returning to work. Just 3 months later, she was able to ease back into work as a realtor. 🙌 In celebration of Stroke Awareness Month, we’re honoring stroke survivors like Lori — people who remind us that recovery looks different for everyone, and that support, the right tools, and determination can make all the difference. 💬 Have you or someone you love used AAC after a stroke? We’d love to hear your story in the comments. P.S. Comment "Story" to read Lori's full story!

Some moments remind you exactly why you became an SLP. 🥹 For Adelaide, one special moment was watching her grandfather use AAC to share what he wanted (the veggie plate!), connect with family, and keep telling his life story — even at 100 years old. This National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, we’re celebrating SLPs like Adelaide —clinicians who are committed to growing their skills and helping more people feel heard. ❤️ 👇 SLPs, what’s your “this is why I do this” moment with AAC?
