Students and faculty from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Zhejiang University, and other architecture programs recently visited line+ studio for an open exchange on architectural education and contemporary practice.
Led by line+ co-founder and lead architect Dr. Peidong Zhu, the visit included a tour of the studio and model exhibition area, followed by an in-depth discussion around the theme “Handcrafted Habitat.”
The conversation connected academic learning with the realities of design research, material thinking, and the process of bringing architectural ideas into built form.
Drawing on recent line+ projects across cultural, hospitality, workplace, sports, and residential contexts, Dr. Zhu shared how architecture can respond to place, local culture, natural conditions, and contemporary ways of living.
The exchange offered students a closer view of architectural practice in China today, while opening a broader dialogue between education, research, and professional practice.

line+ Wins the Sole Top Innovation Award at the IPA Asia Pacific
The 2026–2027 Asia Pacific Property Awards was held in Bangkok, Thailand from May 6 to 7, where line+ co-founder and chief architect Fanhao Meng was invited to attend IPAX Asia Pacific 2026.
Led by @fanhaomeng_lineplus , Chengdu Financial City BEICHEN S1 received the Innovation Award, the sole highest innovation honor of this year’s awards, recognizing its pioneering exploration of new living models in high-density urban environments.
Rather than following conventional row-based residential planning, BEICHEN S1 introduces four-layer courtyard systems and an integrated three-dimensional ecological system, bringing nature back into dense urban living. As Fanhao Meng shared, in today’s increasingly complex urban reality, architects must continue to innovate and create new possibilities for cities and everyday life.
In addition, Chengdu Financial City BEICHEN S1 and Great Yangtze River with CR Land both received Five Star Awards, the highest distinction in their respective categories of Multiple Residence Architecture and Mixed Use Architecture, while Central Park 199 was named Residential High-rise Architecture Award Winner.
As a key regional program of the International Property Awards, the Asia Pacific Property Awards recognizes outstanding achievements in real estate and architectural design, with a focus on design quality, innovation, functionality, and sustainability.
This recognition affirms line+’s ongoing exploration of non-standard residential innovation in China, bringing its local practice into a broader global conversation on high-density living and future lifestyles.

line+ transforms a disused school into a community hub in Xutian, Huizhou

Across rural China, ageing populations and declining birth rates have left many school campuses vacant. Fanhao Meng, Co-Founder & Chief Architect of line+ studio, transforms a disused primary school in Xutian Village, Huizhou, by retaining its structure, reorganising space, and introducing new shared programmes. The project brings the campus back into daily use and explores a model for long-term rural regeneration.
Unlike line+’s previous project on Chaishan Island—which addressed elderly care through a single functional replacement—the Xutian project shifts focus toward activating public vitality. Within a composite context of cultural tourism and community needs, it expands the boundaries of adaptive reuse for abandoned schools.

Led by Fanhao Meng, co-founder and principal architect of line+ studio, the team was commissioned by MEDIINFO I.T. CO., LTD., a leading company in smart healthcare and the health and wellness sector, to design its headquarters through an integrated approach spanning architecture and interiors. As chief architect, Meng directed the project from concept through implementation, coordinating multiple disciplines including architecture, interiors, landscape, façade, and lighting. The project topped out in August 2025 and is currently undergoing façade construction, with completion scheduled for 2027.
The headquarters is not merely a collection of office spaces, but a design practice that transforms the company’s intangible core into a tangible spatial order. line+ studio aims to construct an architectural identity aligned with the enterprise spirit through rational spatial logic, allowing the building to become an urban symbol embodying its core values.

🌿 @fanhaomeng_lineplus delivered the keynote “Shanshui Form” at Design Shanghai 2026 (March 19–22, Shanghai Exhibition Center).
This year’s theme, “Beyond Sustainability: Designing with Nature”, gathered 500+ brands from 20+ countries and leading design experts to explore how design shapes future societies.
🏛️ Fanhao Meng shared three projects showing how contemporary architecture in China’s Shanshui context responds to the balance between nature and human intervention. His approach treats nature as a continuous whole and uses subtle architectural intervention to organize space and order, rethinking the relationship between natural and artificial.
🌱 This aligns with the conference theme, moving from controlling environmental metrics to fostering ecosystem regeneration and evolution through design. line+studio also contributed local practice experience, engaging in the dialogue between nature, technology, and humans.

🏆 Chaishan Island Elderly Care Home, designed by @fanhaomeng_lineplus , has received the WA Chinese Architecture Award.
🌊 Located on Chaishan Island, where only 96 elderly residents remain, the project transforms an abandoned primary school into a warm and welcoming elderly care center—responding to the realities of population decline and aging communities.
🚢 As the finale project of the 10th anniversary of Dream of Decoration Ⅴ, the building has also become a shared public hub for the island, hosting community meetings, celebrations, and daily gatherings.
✨ The project reflects line+’s ongoing exploration of how architecture can respond to social change—revitalizing existing spaces while rebuilding community connections.

line+’s New Project CENTRAL ONE Redefines the Value Benchmark of Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City
Designed by @fanhaomeng_lineplus , co-founder of line+ and lead architect of the project, CENTRAL ONE has quickly become one of the most talked-about residential projects in Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City.
Located on a prime landmark site along Yuhang’s central axis and surrounded by major tech headquarters including DingTalk, ByteDance, and Feishu, the project responds to a new generation of urban residents—young, highly educated, and looking for more than standardized living.
As the only project in Hangzhou to sell out in February, CENTRAL ONE stood out even in a cooling market, achieving a rapid sell-out at a price around RMB 12,000/sqm above the area’s previous price ceiling.
Rather than treating non-standardization as a formal gesture, the design rethinks community living through a three-dimensional public system, fluid spatial experiences, and a new balance between density, nature, and everyday leisure.
From a 5-meter elevated landscape deck and 14,000 sqm public realm, to immersive arrival sequences, rooftop gardens, terraces, pool spaces, and “micro-resort” living scenes, CENTRAL ONE redefines what future urban housing can be.
