@guillaume_coutu_dumont はモントリオール拠点のプロデューサー。2000年代からソロ名義で数々の秀逸なミニマルハウス作品を発表してきたほか、Vincent LemieuxとともにFlabbergast、Robbie KusterとNicolas BoucherとのライブトリオAuflassenとしても活動。近年はノスタルジックでアナログ感あふれるアンビエントスタイルを探求し、催眠的な反復と旋律的な温かみを特徴とする作品を制作しています。
@linekatcho は同じくモントリオール拠点のコンポーザー / オーディオヴィジュアル・アーティスト。音と映像を「運動・緊張・変容」の力として探求し、抽象と物語的要素を融合した作品を制作。エレクトロアコースティック作曲のバックグラウンドを基盤に、ハイブリッドな形式や没入感を重視した、身体的にも感情的に響く、強烈で表現豊かな世界を生み出しています。
今回のMUTEK.JPで、2人はSFや神話に着想を得たコンセプチュアルなパフォーマンス『Les Empires』を披露します。MUTEK Montrealで初演されたこの作品は、Guillaume Coutu Dumontによる温かみと不完全さを帯びたレトロフューチャリスティックなアンビエントシンセ・サウンドに、Line Katchoが架空の帝国をモチーフに権力・崩壊・再生の循環をヴィジュアルで描き出し、観る者を野心とエントロピーの残像へと引き込みます。
