“I have a problem with the word ‘resilience.’” In the latest One Mind Lived Experience Blog entry, @linea.johnson shares how resilience is often praised as something to strive for, as if becoming tougher is the goal. But resilience is a response to hardship. "No one should have to suffer to be valuable." In "Beyond Resilience: How Lived Experience Can Create Stronger Workplaces," Linea reframes the conversation, showing how people with lived experience (PWLE) contribute far more than just inspirational stories. PWLE bring practical insights and a deep understanding of what makes workplaces more sustainable, inclusive, and human. See link in bio to read the full post 🔗 #LivedExperience #MentalHealthAtWork #Inclusion #Leadership #WorkplaceWellbeing #Resilience #Strength #Advocacy

We keep calling it human-centered AI. But which humans are centered? If your models only understand typical patterns, you’re not building human-centered systems; you’re building norm-centered ones. And when people with lived experience are left out, we don’t just lose insight. We build systems that harm. -AI that flags disability as risk. -Apps that reward overwork and penalize rest. -Tools that assume healing must look like progress. But lived experience isn’t a flaw in the dataset. It’s the compass. It’s time to stop building for the edge case. And start building with the edge experts. I was incredibly fortunate to sit on a stage at Human+Tech Week with fellow lived experience experts Jon Nelson and Brandon Staglin to discuss how ethical AI therapy can be implemented. Especially when built WITH those who need it most, not just for them. While I believe most of those building systems, products, and designs aim to make lives better, they often overlook the importance of incorporating the very people who may ask the right questions or pinpoint exactly why a product might be good in theory but not in practice. ❓ I’m curious, what questions do you ask during R&D, when developing marketing assets, or ideating to ensure you include these voices? (And ultimately save yourself money and time by addressing any problems from the start...) Two questions I ask are: -How am I ensuring the voices and perspectives of my clients are not only incorporated but centered? -Who can I bring in to check if I’m missing anything, and how do I do it in a way that is safe and accessible for them? I’d love to hear your questions in the chat 👇🏻 ————— #LivedExperience #HumanCenteredAI #DisabilityJustice #TechForGood

A note for lurkers, slow creators, and anyone feeling like they should be posting more: My last few months have been packed with incredible panels, workshops, conferences, and events. But if you looked at my social media, you wouldn’t know it. This is because I have learned that for me, an entrepreneur with a disability, constant visibility isn’t the same as sustainable leadership. While some disabled creators thrive on posting frequently, I have discovered that I need to work at a slightly different rhythm. This allows me to take care of clients and build relationships quietly, sharing publicly when my energy permits. This schedule honors my unique human limits. It also means I don’t always post in real-time, which helps me to run my business in a way that works with my health, not against it. And honestly? That’s been one of the most strategic decisions I’ve made. In the next few weeks, I look forward to sharing takeaways from the One Mind at Work Global Forum, a client workshop on burnout, and Human+Tech Week, all of which were places where incredible conversations about lived experience have taken place. And while I have felt guilt over not posting about these immediately, and even lurking in the background until I’m ready, this is me saying to all of you who may feel similar: I see you. Here is your permission to pause or go slowly. I’m working to remind myself that it’s okay to share these insights at my own pace, because slowing down doesn’t mean we’re falling behind. It’s about building a business, career, and a life that lasts. #DisabilityLeadership #SustainableWork #BurnoutPrevention #LivedExperienceMatters

🎤 If your AI recognizes— (record scratch) Take 2. Still wrong. Take 3… okay now we’re getting somewhere. Turns out getting the words right matters. Especially when you’re talking about the future of tech, and who gets left behind. In my @humantechweek talk, I say: “If your AI only recognizes one type of thriving, you’re not building human-centered AI — you’re building norm-centered AI.” Because here’s the thing: If your system only sees productivity without pain, or communication without nuance, or wellness without struggle it’s not designed for all of us. It’s optimized for the dominant narrative. Not the full, messy, brilliant truth of human experience. That’s why I practice (and mess up, and practice again). Because the stakes are high. And the words? They matter. #HumanCenteredAI #LivedExperience #DisabilityJustice #TechForGood #ChronicIllnessInTech #ThriveShift

Tuesday’s panel at the @onemindorg at Work Global Forum left me so energized. One of my core messages to employers was this: ➡️Evaluation doesn’t start with numbers, it starts with listening. You need real feedback loops — anonymous, ongoing, and acted on. Leaders often ask me, “What’s one thing we can do today to support neurodiverse employees?” Start with listening, and make it safe to tell the truth. We talked about moving from reactive accommodations to proactive trust systems, especially in a shifting legal landscape. If you missed it and want a recap, I’ll be sharing more this week. Thank you to @brandonstaglin , our incredible moderator, and fellow panelists @umarchatterjee , Scott Kelsey, and Alex Sheehan for a fabulous conversation! #WorkplaceCulture #WorkplaceMentalHealth #MentalHealthLeadership #OMAW2025 #LivedExperienceLeadership #TheThriveShift

I’m excited to speak at the Human+Tech Week Summit, exploring the future of human potential in the age of AI. I will be giving a talk about navigating life with a serious mental illness and what I’ve learned about the power of human-centered innovation. I will share how lived experience, behavioral health tech, and inclusive design can reshape our future when done right. I’ll also be joining a panel on a human-centered approach to developing AI for mental health, moderated by Brandon Staglin and joined by fellow One Mind Lived Experience Council member Jon Nelson and entrepreneurs from the One Mind Accelerator. Join me in San Francisco, June 14-20th, to dive deep into how AI & Tech can support humans and society.
