So thrilled to be co-producing a benefit show this Friday, October 24th, for The Guy Clark Family Foundation, alongside Bukka Allen & Mike Meadows.
We have a truly phenomenal roster of artists coming from TN & around Texas, some who have written with Guy, others who work in his footsteps, to come reimagine his Old No 1 album, now 50 years old this fall. Our show comes on the heels of a string of shows throughout the US this fall to celebrate it, all to support the Foundation. As part of the Guy Clark Estate, run by the unparalleled @tsaviano , the Foundation supports the work of great artists working in the spirit of Guy today.

In an effort of putting one foot in front of the other after the fog of this week…I dropped by the Travis Co Family Courthouse today with a few adorable bears to support the work of my colleagues on the board of the Austin Bar Assn on Nat’l Adoption Day. Being able to see the absolute joy of these families, I was emotional + delighted to give a few kiddos cuddly bears from @forthecubs to celebrate their big day. Run locally by my pal Amy @yougotvale these weighted bears are meant to bring joy + calm, with a contribution to kids in care.
The work done by so many for kids in care will only be required more than ever here with the state of politics…
Feeling hopeless and reeling, today gave a momentary respite from it all…while reinforcing how much work there is to do.

The inaugural roster of artists that they have signed each walk in his independent, distinctive path in their own uniquely individual way. Flying home and my heart is all at once brimming with love and awe — and heartbroken and still struggling to anchor that this is where we are, with the grace and beauty that was Em having moved on ahead of us…
Yesterday was a celebration that only a giant of a human like Em could have warranted….the impact of her showing up in every sweet soul that showed up for her, the memories that we all shared over a beautiful evening somehow put together by her reeling family and chosen family, while we all still struggled to make some sense of the senseless, that she’s moved on into the waves on a long swim ahead of us all…
So much love and respect for everyone who gave her the tribute she deserved, and the humans I got to love on last night in the midst of it. ❤️✨
