I made this video explaining what drama therapy is to me. I have several in person therapy groups starting in March (in LA) where I’ll guide folks through a variety of expressive arts exercises to aid in the therapeutic process. Maybe you know someone who may be interested? Happy to set up a call to answer any questions. Thanks! šŸŽ ā™„ļø#dramatherapy #grouptherapy #narradrama #narrativetherapy #expressivearts

I almost forgot it was @babaramdass birthday this week but I spent most of yesterday reading and listening to him perhaps instinctively sensing it. I was aware of his work for many years but it wasn’t until 2018 when I was struggling with a heartbreak and depression that I really immersed myself in his teachings. His talk entitled ā€œPath of The Heartā€ changed my life. His lesson summarized by the loving and cheeky comment ā€œgo grieve some moreā€ allowed me to let go of the shame (or as they say in Buddhism, the third arrow) and let the feelings run their course. Through his words I got a taste of the unconditional love his guru had for him. That loving awareness helped me stop judging myself so much. Instead of judging and hating ourselves for feeling miserable we can love ourselves for having those same feelings. As Ram Dass says, ā€œI can even see my judgement and I love it.ā€ The loving mind can be just as quick and sneaky as the overly critical parts of our mind. ā€œLose yourself in love.ā€ Thank you RD #ramdass #budhism #beherenow #neemkarolibaba

Writing can feel like walking down a dark alley, it’s best not to do it alone. I love supporting writers in their creative process in my @screenplaydoula workshops. Next ten week session starts January 28 (includes a consultation and a 90 minute individual session) šŸ•ŠļøšŸŽ„āŒØļø (this still is from Strawberry Mansion by Albert Birney & Kentucker Audley)

ā€œWE ALREADY HAVE everything we need. There is no need for self-improvement. All these trips that we lay on ourselves—the heavy-duty fearing that we’re bad and hoping that we’re good, the identities that we so dearly cling to, the rage, the jealousy and the addictions of all kinds—never touch our basic wealth. They are like clouds that temporarily block the sun. But all the time our warmth and brilliance are right here. This is who we really are. We are one blink of an eye away from being fully awake. Looking at ourselves this way is very different from our usual habit. From this perspective we don’t need to change: you can feel as wretched as you like, and you’re still a good candidate for enlightenment. You can feel like the world’s most hopeless basket case, but that feeling is your wealth, not something to be thrown out or improved upon. There’s a richness to all of the smelly stuff that we so dislike and so little desire. The delightful things—what we love so dearly about ourselves, the places in which we feel some sense of pride or inspiration—these also are our wealth.ā€ #pemachodron from Start Where You Are by Pema Chƶdrƶn
