@jacquesgreene ās life on record*
In a new regular feature on @major.thread , the seminal producer and DJ runs through ten tracks that are interwoven into the fabric of his life alongside a conversation that spans the importance of physical media, dark horse karaoke hits and so much more.
Iām so stoked to have a man whose work has been present at many formative moments in my life and the lives of my friends, and a man whose taste I hugely admire and respect, be the first within this series. He doesnāt disappoint.
MAJOR THREAD #1: Johnny Whitney (The Blood Brothers/Evil Island)
This week Iām presenting something really special that Iāve been working on for a while. @major.thread is a new Substack series that delves deep into the identities of people who have contributed something remarkable to culture. Scenes and communities donāt happen in a vacuum; they are a product of the people who contribute to them, each of whom has their own layered and multifaceted story which has run through the life that theyāve led to get them to this point.
Iām opening this monthly series with @johnny.whitney - vocalist for @thebloodbrothers , Jaguar Love and now, the incredible @evil.island.band . Johnny has, directly and indirectly, had an effect on who I and thousands of other people are through his work and outright refusal to be anyone else but himself. We dive into that, his early beginnings in Seattle, staying defiant in the face of abuse, following The Blood Brothersā reunion by forming Evil Island and so much more.
Johnny is the definition of a North Star artist for me, and Iām so thankful for how generous with his time he was. Iāll be forever grateful for his work and the incoming Evil Island music is going to blow people away.
You can read our full, unedited conversation at the š in bio.

Iāve already said it in stories, but today marks a year of me actually taking my health seriously and stepping into the gym to lose weight. I started my first session at 109.kg and today I weigh 66.7kg. I lost 42.9kg in 12 months. Itās the best decision Iāve ever made. Iām proud of that commitment to myself and if youāre currently doing it, Iām proud of you too.
If you want to start but donāt know how to begin, Iāve added how I did it in my story highlights. Iām by no means an expert, but this worked for me. If you want to chat any more about how to do it, my DMs are always open.
@staticdress cover @nmemagazine with their highly anticipated sophomore album injury episode released 29th May via @sumerianrecords .
All images were shot by @olli_appleyard , which makes this the first time that a band has shot their own NME cover story in the magazineās 74 year history. Thatās a testament to the creative aspirations and DIY mentality of this band; a set of philosophies that have carried over to injury episode, which is a diverse, intense, beautiful listen that upends any preconceived ideas you may have had about Static Dress.
When I first met Olli over five years ago, we brainstormed an idea of them playing a show in an abandoned cinema. We got that done on this campaign. We also spoke about them being on the cover of NME. We got that done on this campaign. Thereās a quote in the piece that says āYou can be bigger than my band, but youāre never going to do the things that my bandās capable of doing.ā Thatās absolutely true; Static Dress exist within their own creative orbit and the trend has been that everything else around them has followed that orbit while theyāre already on to the next thing, but after the release of this record and the 18 months that will follow, there wonāt be many bigger than them with any justice.
Itās been and continues to be a lifetime career high to work with this band, who I consider brothers at this point. Itās an amazing feeling that they are also one of my favourite bands in the world too. Itās a dream to continue to cross off bucket list moments with this band. Thereās plenty more to come.
A special thanks to @karengwee , @simonfreeborough , @paulbugler , Rishi, Rhian and everyone at NME for helping put this together and not only open to, but genuinely excited to give creative freedom to such a progressively minded band.

Working hard with the greatest people. Saw the best (hologram) pop band of all time. Launched a newsletter. My friends are the greatest. Still managing to get to the gym. Not enough hours in the day.
injury episode, the second album by @staticdress , will be released 29th May 2026. To celebrate the announcement, @olli_appleyard sat with @kerrangmagazine_ to give a first look into the album, its creation and its themes.
Iām so proud of all four of them for creating a record that feels so inherently them, but boundary pushing and challenges the listener to dig a bit deeper. The world and community theyāve built around their art is so special, and it was a joy to see all of that coalesce last night when they previewed the announcement to 250 fans in a disused cinema. Itās been such a special part of my career being able to help such a special group of people get their message out there, and Iāll always be grateful for the trust theyāve placed in me and the genuine friendship theyāve shown me since I started working with them over five years ago.
injury episode is a brilliant, diverse record thatās crafted with intention. I think Static Dress are one of the best bands currently making music and Iām sure this LP will compound that for so many others too.
Until then, listen to āNostalgia Killsā ft. the legends Underoath, and dig deep into @emmabwilkes ā incredible @kerrangmagazine_ cover feature - you wonāt regret it š¤
Three cities in three weeks for fashion month with @johnglacier . Grateful to all of the brands for their hospitality. JG killed it as always. Thankful to experience it all.
Bobby Krlic aka @thehaxancloak covers @theblankmag_ Issue 16. I donāt think there are very many people that make music who had a better year than Bobby did last year. Scores for HIM, Eenie Meanie, Eddington and Anemone (which is my personal favourite score of the year), allowed him to really flex his creative diversity; producing four completely different works that showed just how radical his imagination can be. His work isnāt just a musical accompaniment to these visuals; theyāre living, breathing entities that give new context to any film you might be watching. Heās a genius, and itās such a joy being in his orbit.
This cover story delves deep into how he got to this point; through making music in Wakefield, to game changing releases as The Haxan Cloak, to a one-off trip to LA changing everything for him. Itās the greatest pleasure to help spread the word about just how much of a talent he is, and Iām so grateful to @losunderland for putting together such a wonderful feature and accompanying set of images.
Give it a read when you can, and dig in to everything heās worked on. Itāll move you in so many different ways.
