I didn't want to post this at first, but the more I sit with it, the more I feel like I should. For those of you that know the lineage of the studio I now get to call home, there were some incredible people that came before me. Been a long while since I've posted anything . I'm so bad at this part. Here's a mix I just finished for the wonderful @madelyn_may_ . She came in with a piano ballad and over the course of a couple weeks I taught AI to do the rest! Haha I kid. I took her piano ballad, wrote all the instrumentation as well as mixed and mastered it. For my engineer friends critiquing the effort on both the mix and master coming from the same person all I can say is that a budget allows what is allows. I have to have a wide set of skills to meet independent artist budgets and expectations. Is what it is. Haven't had to write a guitar solo in a while! This was a fun one. I'm super happy with the tone. I ended up just going DI through a knockoff Centaur and TS7 and into the Neve OPX pre. Have all these amp heads, and in the end a nice a DI tone won.

Moments like these are pretty special. Koster and I have been building choirs for a lot of his songs lately. We've tried re-amping, adding other voices for colour, jumping around the room in different spots to creative distance. This one takes the cake though I think I can say for us both!

Working with Koster over the past 4 months has been a refreshing experience, to say the least, and a great way to start off the year for us both.
We've developed such an exciting sound for him as he continues to write an incredible catelog of new material. I'll slowly pour my soul out about over the coming months, but in the meantime, enjoy those raw #neve tracked drums, baby!

The second photo highlights the space we have on the floor to track, but also shows the stairs to the live room. There is also an additional room under the stairs where we have isocabs for amp tracking!
