7 SURF TIPS TO PROGRESS FROM BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE BELOW 👇
1. Master Your Pop-Up: 💡Ensure a stable pop-up on land before hitting the water. If it’s wobbly on land, odds are it’s going to be worse in the water.
2. Surf with More Experienced Surfers: 💡Surround yourself with surfers who are better than you. Their skill level will challenge you to improve and enhance your own surfing abilities.
3. Take Your Time Transitioning to a Fibreglass Board: 💡Enjoy the process of surfing and don’t rush into using a fibreglass board. Get your technique down first! Stick with foamies to eliminate fear and ensure a safer experience for yourself and others. Begin with a larger board and avoid transitioning to a shorter board too quickly, or go from an 8ft foamie, to a 7ft, and then to a 6ft foamie if you really want to be a short board queen/king.
4. Go to a Rapture surf camp 💡Of course we are bias, but we can’t stress enough how fast everyone improves with us. We have camps all over the world for you to come along to.
5. Learn to Interpret Surf Reports: 💡Enhance your surfing experience by understanding surf reports. Picking the right day to hit the waves will significantly improve the enjoyment of your surf sessions.
6. Optimise Your Paddling Technique: 💡Improve your paddling efficiency by keeping your chest up and feet together. This technique not only aids in paddling but ensures your arms are not overworked, utilising your back muscles effectively.
7. Invest in a Filming Session for Analysis: 💡Consider recording your surfing sessions for personal improvement. Video analysis, available at our camps, allows you to identify areas for growth and refine your technique.
Remember, the key to progress in surfing is a combination of practice, learning from experienced surfers, and continuous self-assessment. Enjoy the journey and celebrate each step of improvement!🚀
