My first ever walk into the woods in Norway 🇳🇴 2024. It had just snowed but first signs of spring were showing. I figured maybe I’ll see if there are any mushrooms around this city park. 60 seconds off trail this stump was staring back at me. After that I found over 40 different species some edible. It was full of fairy’s in those woods but the camouflage of winters past would have you fooled if you didn’t know what the moisture on the ground and spring meant.

My first Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor) 2023. This was incredible, the mushrooms looked like they assisted the bark peeling away. I’m not sure but this spot might be gone from the fires now. So many old growth oak trees went down in the fire.

We were on this boat for 20 days with some surfers coming and going. At night we stayed on land, we visited four different villages who welcomed us with open arms each with its own wave. I’ve never surfed from a boat before or reef brake, a completely different experience. Time slows down on a boat it’s nice.

Tsaranoro a dreamland in Madagasikara. In our second car, we arrived at night through a tunnel of bushes bottoming out on a extremely narrow bumpy road. We woke up to this view. Despite not knowing our first car didn’t have working brakes, our Malagasy driver, Mommy ( means sweet in Malagasy) waited to tell us at the end of our trip. He didn’t want to loose work so he risked his own life and ours with the ebrake “solution”. Work had been absent since Covid so he needed to feed his family. We didn’t notice because he did all so with a smile. Fortunately, our car broke down due to engine issues so we had to swap for a better car halfway. Not so fortunate that the car shut down right before dark in the middle of the most dangerous spot. A scary eerie sapphire mining town you are told get through quickly even during the day. We finally got the car working by feeding it water and driving slow for the next hour to our protected park destination. There is a lot more that goes unsaid here, but I’ve never feared for my life more than this moment, Mommy gave me the same feeling. Mining towns have a dark shadow that can’t be unfelt. My mom won’t see this post. Thankfully we landed in Tsaranoro pictured above for our next chapter. This place brought us so much glory the missing car brakes and engine meltdown were already in the past. Mommy risked our lives because he had to risk his. We all accepted this and became a roadtrip family. Never felt so alive. It was easy, Mommy never stopped smiling- Luckily, I don’t think any of us would have changed a thing.

Madagasikara | Madagascar : My favorite picture I took in my one month stay. The big ship harvests kelp, and the small sail is a fishing and transport boat. Both made from all local wood of different kinds for different reasons. The sails are all made from recycled rice bags. The Vezo people that sail these, live nomadic with the sea on the southwest coast of Madagasikara. 1 of 18 ethnic groups that make up Madagasikara. Vezo nenga-daka, tsy misy raha vitany. - A Vezo without a boat cannot exist.
