»Okkult Leben« – my Bachelor Project exploring occult activity in Europe around 1900.
Occultism of that time was highly political, with close ties to anarchist and women’s movements.
Women and gender-marginalized people were pioneers in occult movements as mediums, artists, and spiritual leaders. Yet their work remained largely invisible. Can occultism be understood as a feminist counterculture? A tool against patriarchal exclusion?
This book combines a graphic narrative with a theoretical exploration of occultism’s emancipatory potential alongside its darker ties to fascism and authoritarian ideologies.
Linen hardcover, 100 pages of images and written text. Riso-printed in medium blue and yellow in an edition of 20.
Thank you to my friends and family that helped me make this 🌟🌟🌟
