I don’t think I have any Nu Wa photos here on Instagram, even though she is one of the sewing projects I’m most proud of. It was peak custom patterning and creative solutions for me up to that point. And despite how much I hate hand sewing, there was soooooo much hand sewing. 😭 This was our 4th competition and our 2nd masquerade at Otakon. We won Best Craftsmanship in the Journeyman division in 2009. I adore this Nu Wa design so much and didn’t get to really try for big hair, her halo-esque headdress, or her shield, so I’d really love to give it another go sometime.
PS: I don’t do enough Warriors cosplays, even though it’s one of my favorite franchises.

I don’t have many photos of my Evil Lyn from the 2002 Masters of the Universe series. A story to write another day! This is also one of the few clear shots, taken at Wizard Con Philly. Of course, I forgot the choker that day. Our group won Best in Show at I-Con 2009 a few months earlier; our third competition, third major award, and our second Best in Show at I-Con. So proud of the leather work I leaned for this, but with everything I’ve learned since, I’ve often thought about revisiting it.

Oh yea, after NYCC Saturday we drove upstate so we could go to @retrogamecon Sunday with @effycrush and meet @timdownie1 and @davejonesactor . I was the third Elizabeth of E&E to show up (Liz had promised them she was bringing more) and we explained our NOT NOW GALE joke. But as Tim said, ROMANCE CANT WAIT, KEITH! Really had a blast, especially coming to a more laid back con straight from utter chaos. And if Tim had a magical item or creature, it would be an Owlbear named Keith.

#NYCC2025 non-work edition. Hit up the con Fri/Sat mostly for work-related things. It was utterly exhausting and the crowds were worse than last year. Only made it through half of Saturday. But still made a point to grab some fun stuff and see my favorite artists: @davidmackkabuki@greghornart@_picolo and unexpectedly grabbed Alter Ego, signed by @minomiyabi . Started the days with caffeine and ended the days with caffeine.
Let’s take things way waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy back to very baby Lilith. This might have been my 2nd year making my own cosplay. I was 19 or 20, in college, and working at Jim Hanley’s Universe on Staten Island. For Halloween I made my very first head-to-toe cosplay. No altered clothing, made with the limited supplies of my local Joann’s before it closed some years later. There were absolutely newbie mistakes that I later fixed, but I was so proud to wear something that I fully made on my own, boot covers and all. And this was the wig that eventually inspired me to go blonde. The new #supergirl run had come out with an updated design by #michaelturner so it was a must-do at the time.
