SINGELI : La Tanzanie vernaculaire sous très haut BPM Rythme effréné (entre 180 et 300 BPM), flows survoltés et carambolages de percussions aux fréquences étranges : voici la recette du singeli, genre musical explosif venu de Tanzanie. Il naît en 2006 à Manzese et Tandale, deux quartiers ouvriers à la périphérie de Dar Es-Salaam, dans la scène kigodoro.Des fêtes-marathons surnommées ainsi d’après les matelas en mousse sur lesquels les danseurs et danseuses s’écroulent d’épuisement. Le singeli fusionne et digère à 180, 200, voire 300 bpm la richesse musicale de ce grand port situé au carrefour des cultures africaines, arabes et indiennes. En dix ans, le singeli a déjà beaucoup muté : certains de ses producteurs se nourrissent à présent de sons de la vie quotidienne et le genre s’écoute désormais à la radio autant qu’en club.
