High-functioning depression can be difficult to recognize because it often hides behind achievement, responsibility, and “having it together.” Many women continue showing up for everyone else while silently feeling exhausted, numb, disconnected, or overwhelmed internally.
If any of these signs resonated with you, let it be information, not self-judgment. You do not need to wait until things get worse to deserve support. Therapy, connection, rest, boundaries, and compassionate self-awareness can make a meaningful difference.
This post is inspired by one of the blogs featured on our website, where we take a deeper dive into high-functioning depression in women, including common signs, emotional impacts, and supportive ways to cope and heal. We also share new monthly blogs on mental health, relationships, self-growth, and wellness-related topics.

Last Friday was a bittersweet day for us at Lightwork as we bid farewell to sunshine in human form: our beloved Sami! As Sami moves on from her time here at Lightwork to her next adventure, we will miss her so much but are so excited for all the amazing things she will continue to accomplish in her next chapter.
Loved by her fellow staff and our wonderful clients alike, Sami is best known for her incredible compassion for others, hilarious sense of humor, and her uncanny ability to make you feel like you’re the only and most important person in the world when you’re talking to her.
Sami joined lightwork from the very earliest days and we are so grateful to have had her help us define and build the program that lightwork is today over the past two and a half years. Her legacy of deep compassion and lightheartedness will continue on! We will miss her beautiful smiling face at both our locations, but we can’t help but be so happy for her as she takes the next step on her journey. WE LOVE YOU SAMI!☀️🤍👑
If you’ve been avoiding something, there’s probably a good reason. Your brain is trying to keep you safe, even if the strategy isn’t helping in the long run.
Avoidance doesn’t always seem obvious. Sometimes it’s putting things off, staying in your comfort zone, or telling yourself “now isn’t the right time.”
But over time, it can quietly limit what you experience and what you believe you’re capable of.
Real change doesn’t come from pushing yourself too hard. It comes from small, intentional moments of doing things differently.
We started this space with one intention: to create something we knew so many women needed.
A place where you don’t have to pretend you’re okay.
A place where you can be supported, understood, and not feel so alone in what you’re going through.
A place where healing happens…together.
If you’re looking for support, clarity, or a place to start again, our door is open, and we’re here to help 🤍
