Just a lil’ guy stargazing 💫
As you probably (definitely) already know, grain elevators hold a special place in my heart. They’ve worked hard and stood the test of time witnessing generations grow up around them. This piece for “Stargazers” makes me especially sentimental because it feels like this elevator is looking up at the stars while on night-watch amidst the crops. Maybe it’s their last, maybe it’s just another night on the prairies, but to me they’ve always had the best view.

A little bit from my artist statement 🛸 ⬇️
I grew up surrounded by the wide-open skies of the Alberta prairies and road trips through Saskatchewan and Manitoba gave me a love for all of the buildings that used to dot the landscape. Now they’re starting to disappear and they feel like relics of another world. Grain elevators especially, once looming figures of prosperity and industry, now withering away and left for dust. My paintings imagine where they’re going— maybe not demolished, but lifted into space by beings that need them more than we do.
