Co-design Workshop 2 💫
During Week 11, we hosted our second co-design workshop in the open grass area next to Grundtvig’s Church in Copenhagen.
As part of work package 2 of the Art of Darkness Project, the workshop highlighted the value of co-design as a method for inclusive, experience-based knowledge building. Through three hands-on, participatory activities, we explored how residents experience this space after dark. Participants actively engaged with different lighting equipment, testing variations in colour temperature and light distribution, and reflecting on how changing lighting conditions can reshape perceptions of the space in darkness.
A big thank you to all participants for the thoughtful conversations, curiosity, and ideas shared in this inspiring outdoor setting.

On Saturday 25th April, Ellen Kathrine Hansen @ellenkathrinehansen gave a talk titled “Becoming friends with the sky and the darkness” at Forskningens Døgn @forskdk in Stege for Dark Sky Møn and Nyord. She talked about the research in Lighting Design Lab @lightingdesign_aau about lowering light levels, living with darkness and the sky and the project “Art of Darkness”💫
A strong example of how research can support more sustainable lighting practices while deepening our relationship with the night environment 🌙
