But there’s another type of light that often gets overlooked: vertical lighting.
Lighting up walls and vertical surfaces isn’t just a matter of aesthetics.
It’s a design move that creates visual depth, expands space, enhances comfort, and adds a welcoming feeling that no other type of light can provide.
The key lies in the technique.
If you want a smooth, elegant, and even wall, use wall washer lighting.
Want to highlight texture or create a tactile, material effect?
Go for a wall grazer, and play with angle and distance.
Designing vertical light the right way means transforming the space.
Want to make a room feel larger, more refined, more valuable?
Light the walls.

The beam angle makes all the difference, it defines where and how the light falls.
Spotlight beam (15°–36°) is used to focus. Perfect for highlighting objects, paintings, columns, and details.
Downlight beam (60°–120°) is ideal for general, wide, and diffused lighting. In large spaces, it ensures visual comfort.
Choosing the right angle isn’t about aesthetics. It’s about function, and it affects how the space is perceived.
Quick technical tip:
The smaller the angle, the sharper the shadow.
The wider the angle, the more uniform the lighting.
