CREATING FROM IBADAN is now showing live on YouTube.
It is a short documentary that follows the lives of young creatives who have chosen to pursue their passions in Ibadan. Through the stories of a tailor, a visual artist, and a resin artist, the documentary explores why these creators remain in Ibadan, despite the pull of larger cities like Lagos or Abuja.
This short documentary also captures the spirit of ambition rooted in place, offering a window into the determination, innovation, and identity of Ibadan’s emerging creative community.

I have been meaning to share some updates on my journey as a screenwriter, and honestly I think this is something I should do from time to time.
Last month, I completed a four-month screenwriting course at Digital Film School Africa @dfs_africa , and it was truly transformative. The experience, the incredible screenwriters all over Africa I connected with and our exceptional tutors pushed me to grow as a storyteller in ways I hadn't imagined. But what makes it even more special is that my final screenplay project from the course has been selected for production. That feeling when someone believes in your story enough to bring it to life? Incredible.
Last year also brought my first-ever nomination as a screenwriter. I was nominated in the Best Writer category of the Slate 1 Film Festival Awards @sffawards . That nomination was like a validation that I am on the right path, doing what I am meant to do.
These days, I am deep in the work, developing different screenplays, exploring new stories and constantly learning. The journey is just beginning, and I couldn't be more excited about what is ahead. I am grateful to God, everyone who has been on this path with me and everyone who have take a chance on my skill.
To anyone on a similar path: keep writing, keep believing in your stories. The work is worth it.
Africa Creator Summit @africancreatorssummit wrapped. What an experience!
Proud to say Truss Media Group @trussmediagroup served as the official media team for the event and I had the opportunity to be part of the crew on ground. From capturing key moments to documenting powerful conversations, it was inspiring to witness Africa’s creative energy come alive in one space. Being in the middle of that energy, that ambition, that brilliance was such a privilege.
Grateful to my boss @thedanielolas and the entire TRUSS TEAM for the experience, the people and the stories we got to tell. On to the next one!
Yesterday, my short documentary, Creating From Ibadan, premiered at Fadaka Fest @fadaka.fest as the opening film of the festival at Tunde Odunlade Gallery, Ibadan.
It was a delight premiering a film about Ibadan creatives/creators at a creative event in Ibadan itself. The documentary follows a tailor, a visual artist, and a resin artist who have chosen to build their lives and work in the city, despite the constant pull of places like Lagos or Abuja.
The reactions after the screening made it clear that the film struck a nerve. People connected with the idea of creating and choosing to grow from home. It felt like a small but honest reflection of the city’s spirit, ambition rooted in place and the belief that meaningful work can come from wherever you decide to stand.
