From start to finish, you’ve been by my side. And like we promised 4 months into my recovery, that hopefully by month 11 we could run together in your home town, celebrating love and recovery and everything Nebraska means to you. Looking forward to today gave me hope when I really struggled and I couldn’t have been able to get through this without you Stav. My best friend. Thank you. Cheers to the real mvp. And I can’t believe you changed shoes halfway through hahaha. I love you.
Before my grandma passed a few years ago, she called each grandchild and told them a story she remembered most about them. Keep in mind my grandma had 9 children, each family a few kids, do the math, she had an impressive memory.
When she called me, she told me about the time she took me to the Wild Animal Park. I was in second grade, and all I wanted to do was go to the butterfly exhibit. She told me once we finally got to the exhibit, in her words, “you went in the middle of the thing and stood there with your hands sticking out for 45 damn minutes for one of those things to land on you… and they never did!”
Then we laughed. I don’t know what it is about butterflies, but I love them. And after today, just a few years later, I got a few kisses from these beauty’s.
You know, butterflies don’t know the color of their own wings… and just like people sometimes, we all need little reminders of our light and beauty.
