The first Water Treatment Plant in Ukraine’s Sumy region is now operational 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽 On April 30, a new “ReH₂O” Water Treatment Plant officially began operating in the center of Krolevets, a city in Ukraine’s Sumy region located near the Russian border. Supported by strategic partners BlueCheck Ukraine, Canada-Ukraine Foundation, and Lifeline Ukraine, the project is expected to provide free access to safe drinking water for up to 30,000 residents for years to come. Krolevets, located just 70 kilometers from Russia, continues to face the constant threat of attacks. For years, the city struggled with access to safe drinking water due to its aging water infrastructure. High iron levels made tap water unsafe to drink, forcing many families to purchase bottled water on their own. Installed in the city’s central square, the new station is expected to significantly improve access to clean water for vulnerable residents and the broader community. The project is part of the “Don’t Wait. Hydrate.” Initiative, a nationwide effort focused on strengthening decentralized critical infrastructure and water resilience across Ukraine.
