The library’s team met over the summer to brainstorm ideas on how to improve library services for the upcoming year. UCLA’s Botanical Garden hosted our brainstorming session, and what a beautiful setting. 😍🌺
The SMC Library said good bye to their long time Librarian and Department Chair, Bren. They served the SMC campus for 26 years and helped rebuild the library department after COVID. Bren will be missed, but we wish them the happiest of retirements. 🤓📚🏝️
📢Attention Students! The SMC Library is launching an open art call for students to submit designs for the library’s first ever promotional bookmarks to be unveiled Fall 2025. The theme of the bookmark is “The Spirit of SMC.”
A jury of 3 (art faculty and librarian), will use their professional expertise to select the top 3 designs before opening it up for campus voting. The design to receive the most votes will be selected for the bookmark, and the winner and honorable mentions, will receive a prize.
Submission rules:
- Original artwork submitted in .JPG format to Submission Form
- Open to currently enrolled students only
- Follow file naming format listed in the form

Black History Month is annually observed in February in the United States. It is meant to recognize important African American people and events, as well as a way to pay tribute to the struggles and injustices African American people have overcome throughout U.S. history. To learn more about Black history and the contributions of African Americans, stop by the library or Bundy display. #blackhistorymonth
