In 2025, impact was not defined by scale alone, but by depth, trust, and the strength of the communities behind it.
🌍 From emerging leaders finding their voice, to organizations expanding their reach, this year reflects what becomes possible when long-term commitment meets collective action.
🤝 These numbers tell part of the story. The rest lives in the people, partnerships, and progress they represent.

The journey begins today. 🗳️✨
We are thrilled to officially kick off the 2026 Democracy Cohort! This leadership development initiative is designed to support emerging leaders who are strengthening democratic participation within their own communities.
Over the next 9 months, our cohort of six exceptional young visionaries will engage in a specialized hybrid curriculum. Through expert-led workshops, 1:1 mentorship, and peer-to-peer learning, they will tackle the intersection of social impact and democratic innovation.
The roadmap for this cohort is built on three core pillars:
1. Civic Education & Youth Empowerment
2. Cross-Cultural Learning & Dialogue
3. Media Literacy & Addressing Misinformation
As participant @p_apostolakis shares, this is about building a "shared community of practice—one that listens deeply and treats democracy as something we build together."
Stay tuned over the coming weeks as we introduce you to each of the six leaders and the incredible work they are doing across the globe. 🌍
Don’t miss a milestone: 🔔 FOLLOW @LibraPhilanthropies to meet the leaders and follow their 9-month journey.

Behind every cause is a human story 💬
In this Learning Lab, we explored how storytelling can transform the way nonprofits connect, communicate, and inspire action—turning real moments into meaningful impact ✨
Led by Eva Soulia, our Assistant Director of Communications, the session brought together organizations across our network to reflect, learn, and exchange ideas on how to tell stories that resonate and endure! 🤝
Thank you to everyone who joined us 🙏

Democracy lives in everyday moments—in conversations, in communities, in the decision to keep showing up!
In this blog, we share the stories of @p_apostolakis Petros Apostolakis and @isabellaricar Isabella Rivas Cárdenas, two young leaders whose work is rooted in personal conviction and a deep commitment to their communities.
As part of the 2026 Democracy Cohort, they remind us that leadership is not reserved for the few—it is built, lived, and shared!

At Libra Philanthropies, we believe leadership is shaped long before a title.
For @isabellaricar (Isabella Rivas Cardenas), early exposure to conversations around politics and justice sparked a lifelong commitment to civic engagement.
Through Leadingroots, she works to transform communities—guided by empathy, purpose, and a deep sense of responsibility toward others.
“Whatever you do, do it with your heart.”
As a 2026 Democracy Program participant, Isabella continues to build global connections that inspire her and expand her impact.

🌍 "I wanted to not just tell stories, but also be a part of the lives of the women whose stories I was telling." — @priyalisur (Priyali Sur), Founder of @theazadiproject

140 young Africans. Four days. One vision.
This March, we spent four days in Goma with 140 young leaders from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 41 secondary students at Cornerstone Leadership Academy, and 99 university students from across the DRC.
We taught them three things that will shape the rest of their lives: how to build a vision worth chasing, how to form networks that actually matter, and how to shape a personal brand that opens doors.
They did not come to be rescued. They came to build.
This gathering happened because @libraphilanthropies believed young African leaders are worth investing in. We are grateful.

Some places don't just host conversations — they inspire them.
Swipe to see how our Democracy Cohort spent three transformative days in Athens, Greece.
From the birthplace of democracy to conversations with some of the most inspiring voices in the field — our cohort members dove deep into what it means to lead, govern, and build resilient democracies today.
Over three days in Athens, they had the privilege of learning alongside:
🗞 @fyi.news.official — on independent media & democratic discourse.
🎓 President Wingenbach of @deree_acg — on education, leadership & democracy.
🔔Former PM George A. Papandreou — on Greece's democratic journey.
🌍 Lia Papazoglou & George Dikaios — on resilient democracies & sustainability.
✍️ Alexis Papahelas — on media, power & accountability.
💻 Stefanos Loukopoulos of Vouliwatch — on civic engagement in the digital age.
🌐 Athens Democracy Forum — on youth participation in democratic processes.
This is what learning looks like when democracy isn't just a subject, it's the classroom. 🙌

Blog Post: @theazadiproject
Kaisar Ali is a young male journalist from Budgam, Kashmir — and he's leading menstrual hygiene workshops for teenagers in his community.
As an alum of the Azadi Leadership Program (ALP), supported by Libra Philanthropies, Kaisar chose to tackle one of the most stigmatized topics in his region head-on. His sessions welcome all genders, answer every question, and replace shame with knowledge.
His first workshop of 2026 brought 70 teenagers through the door. And the questions kept coming.
Women don't just need support. They need allies. And lasting change often begins the moment one person decides to act.
