20 pics from Belfast and Dublin. Whenever we get the chance to go somewhere on a work trip and the other one might be able to come along, we do our best to say yes. Most of our international trips are for work, and we actually love that - getting to connect with locals and learn from them is one of the richest parts of traveling.
Tomorrow is a special day at @stitchsalonla - we are having an open house - actually it’s owner/founder @libertyworthart who is hosting an open studio - and Stitch Salon is part of it.
If you want to pop by, Saturday is the day to do it - 12-3pm
Liberty doesn’t open her personal studio to the public - and we are only open by appointment, so this is a rare opportunity to see the space and what Liberty’s practice is like as a full time textile artist and arts educator.

25 years ago today I married my favorite person. We’ve had so many adventures (good and bad) - and also so many pairs of glasses 🤓- over the years - but the one thing remains true. @jay_worth you are the best thing that ever happened to me
It was a joy to celebrate this kid turning 11 this weekend. He opted out of a birthday party (“so stressful!”) and instead had a one on one sleepover and fun day with his bestie since preschool. We also managed to squeeze in a combo platter Father’s Day that had some beach time and a fancy dinner in DTLA.
It’s so much fun to celebrate Dax.
This little bird finished elementary school today. It was a joyous moment, even in the midst of the storm. Because ICE has been showing up to elementary school graduations this week and kidnapping family members, extra precautions had to be put into place. But this beautiful little diverse space had a gorgeous celebration of cultures coming together as community. And I was grateful for the life we’ve chosen, to intentionally be in spaces where we learn about the richness of cultures coming together in love.
FYI - LA is not a war zone. But we are under scary circumstances from the federal government’s overreach.
Speaking of family showing up- in my sickness, I forgot to post that 14 of us showed up for Becker’s 8th grade musical performance- his last big event at his school before graduation and before the Ludwigs leave CA.
The play was great. We all missed Dave and it was good to be together.
I’ve actually been sicker than I have been in years this weekend. Haven’t left bed for more than 2 hours at a time since Friday night. (Probably a good old end of the year teacher sickness)- but Sunday night was an all ages show that we couldn’t miss as a family.
@brendanabernathy is our 6th family member- I call him my 4th and oldest son. He’s lived with us for months on end and been a part of our family life since we met him a few years ago. Everything from family dinner, to birthday celebrations, little league games, art shows, and holidays. He’s one of us.
So I rallied, wore a mask even in the car, and celebrated family. Also got to hug his actual mama @detralovelife - who raised an incredible young man and lives back in Atlanta. She’s okay with me being his California mom.
The most lovely afternoon spent hosting a class @stitchsalonla with @specksandkeepings as the teacher. We gathered together and stitched and learned. See you all again in two weeks when we do part 2 of our projects!

Learn to let go and see what the fabric tells you it wants to be. First session we will collage our piece and learn to stitch to create movement in our fabric. When we meet again the second time we will embellish our piece with a variety of techniques.
