Hi, I’m Liam 👋 I’m a Liverpool-based freelance content writer, creative writing facilitator, and someone who’s never been able to put the pen down.
I’m on a mission to create connection through creativity and writing.
My early memories of writing aren’t of homework or essays. They’re of making magazines at my grandparents’ house, or writing short stories on a Saturday morning, and submitting to writing magazines as a teenager. I even have two Blue Peter badges for writing poetry (true story!).
Writing has never been a chore - it’s where I go to play.
Storytelling is our natural mode of communication. It’s fundamental to our human experience, and writing’s a joyful part of that. It helps us explore the world, make sense of our imagination, and gives the ideas in our heads somewhere to live. It opens us up to new perspectives, new worlds, new versions of ourselves that we didn’t know could exist.
The more we stay connected to our creativity and nurture it, rather than letting it go quiet, the more enriched our time on this planet will feel.
Writing has given me all of that, and now I’m sharing it with the world.

Get ready to write! ✍️ Introducing Just Write! a short story competition that rewards creativity over experience.
Every round, every entrant receives the same prompt on the same day, and has one week to write a short story of 500 or 1,000 words depending on your category.
Entries are judged on imagination, not technical ability, with cash prizes of £100, £50, and £25 up for grabs every round.
The idea came from my own creative writing community and people who wanted a reason and a deadline to write regularly. So I built one.
There’s no experience required and no advantage in having done this before. Just you, a prompt, and something to work towards.

The Creative Reset. What can I say? I'm feeling pretty proud of myself for this one 🥹
It was a long road to get here, but what a worthwhile adventure. From an idea I had a year ago, to welcoming the most wonderful group of creative, imaginative, and genuinely nicest people, yesterday's retreat day was everything I imagined and more.
We wrote, we snacked, we walked, we reflected, we snacked some more, we created, we chatted, we imagined, we shared, we connected, we snacked even more, and we gave ourselves permission to let go, have fun and enjoy every minute!
Thank you to @jennifergreenhealthandwellness who delivered an incredible aromatherapy and essential oils workshop, and to @navybluestudio.co.uk for juggling being a participant with taking the time to film and snap away to capture the day and create this beautiful video. I genuinely shed a few happy tears when I saw this for the first time 🥲

I knew the dinner table was a place where people would connect and share stories, but I hadn’t anticipated the depth of connection I'd witness at last night’s Creative Writing Dinner Club at @hawksmoorliverpool .
Over three courses we wrote, we laughed, we dined, we played games, we swapped stories, we shared experiences, and we ended the night discussing our personal connections to creativity.
That doesn’t happen at every dinner table.
Everyone showed up with their own reasons for wanting to be in the room - to develop creativity, to build confidence, to find a community. But everyone left connected by the experience.
I love creating spaces like this, where people feel free to express themselves, have fun, and just be creative together.
I can’t wait to do it again.

There's a lot of styling it out required when it comes to being a writer 👠
Start with the messy drafts. Write the things you think are no good. Follow the threads of your ideas and see where they take you.
Test out all of the ideas (good and bad), and discover what feels authentic to you.
Every word you put in the page brings you closer to discovering who you are as a writer, and honing your craft and instincts.
The more you write, the better you'll become. So just get started!

This peak behind the scenes from shooting another glorious signature video, is exactly why I do content the way I do.
Because of course strategy, messaging, and positioning matters.
But if your content has the personality of a wet napkin, people are scrolling straight past.
When people get to know the real you, your personality, your quirks, and your story - they buy into you. Plus it makes showing up online feel a lot better when you actually have FUN with it!!
So next time you reintroduce yourself, film content, or post something that sounds like everyone else, think:

Hosting my creative writing club is always one of the highlights of my month, but it doesn't happen just by chance.
A lot of prep goes on behind the scenes to make sure that each session is unique, and that everyone can get involved.
Setting up the room before people walk in is just the icing on the cake. Throughout the rest of the month, I'm always planning and prepping.
From the moment we leave I'm already thinking about ideas for prompts and activities. I'm running through them in my head, testing them for myself on paper, figuring out themes and directions that challenge people to become better writers and tap into their creative minds.
Every prompt I deliver has a purpose to help people express their creativity. Every word is chosen to steer participants in a direction, or to get them to incorporate something into their writing that will help them to discover something they didn't realise before.
The prep is always going on in my head, not just when I arrive to set up a room, and I love it - it keeps me on my creative toes!
