Everyday candle holders
A selection of candle holders (as the first part of an ongoing study) transforming ordinary, practical and even harsh or clinical objects (hammer, IV stand) into carriers of light and ritual meaning. Playing with irony, contrast and symbolism these objects try to re-inscribe meaning into familiar forms and play with the questions of how to use what we have/what we know and how context changes meaning. The utilitarian becomes poetic with the light/the candle mediating between distinctly different worlds.

Any space sink
A first prototype as part of a typological study focusing on domestic appliances and their inherent ideological conventions. The any space sink challenges the codifying constraints of the kitchen as a space of reproductive labour. Literally liberated from its actual enclosure, the Any Space Sink is freely movable and is first installed in the SIS studio space.
