Salon (Wide) is a bespoke typeface drawn as part of the wider brand system in development for SKH @subrinakiddhair_skh . The primary letterforms evolved from studying hand-painted signage across East London—market stalls, dancehall sound systems, shop-fronts, and other local vernacular references. These influences were distilled into a minimal, contemporary expression, leaving only a subliminal brush-stroke character with barely perceptible flares. The ‘S’ centre-stroke carries a more horizontal angle, influencing the letter's easy flow—a trace of London’s traditional sign-painting, without slipping into nostalgia. While the extended width of this style gives Salon a unique voice for the SKH brand, further styles are likely to be added later. Supports both curly and straight punctuation marks.

Website for writer and editor @mariaedimitrova ¶ ¶ Shaping a digital space for Maria’s practice was a pleasure, having worked together in various capacities in recent years. The site serves as an index, a showcase, and a reader, finding subtle ways to honour the granular craft of writing and the hidden architecture of the text.¶ ¶ The Reader’s bookish proportions and marginalia recall a printed page, while the Index section’s interactive features are definitively digital. Project categories expand and collapse, aiding a swift navigation of the portfolio, which spans journalism, essays, editorial projects, reviews and interviews; for publications including London Review of Books, e-flux, Bookforum, The Times Literary Supplement, The Paris Review Daily, Literary Review, The Plant, and TANK, among others.¶ ¶ A latent state reveals the hidden characters within a given text that represent spaces, paragraph breaks, tabs, and line breaks. These formatting marks feature in working documents to control layout and typography, but are not part of a typeface, and do not appear in print or digital publication. They were added to the font as bespoke glyphs, and finally granted visibility.¶ ¶ Design: Liam Morrow¶ Development: David Lawler @research_and_destroy_ ¶

Cannibal Culture 10” vinyl sleeve and poster. In response to @witchtrialsmusic ’s themes of dual-consciousness and dual-ethnicity, I proposed the idea of the object as a multitude; track-list as text, text as image index, and everything naturally reciprocal with the music. Images: adapted from photography by @oliver_piquant . Sleeve: foil-blocked by @freestyleprint . Poster: litho by @pureprintgroup

Getting intertextual. Recent design for @witchtrialsmusic ’s Cannibal Culture on 10” vinyl. As per musical themes of dual-consciousness and dual-ethnicity, the sleeve is about the object as a multitude. Track-list as text, text as image index, and everything naturally reciprocal with the music. Like the book, the record defies extinction. This was an exercise in the fundamentals of a format, and the allusions between parts and whole. Images: adapted from photography by @oliver_piquant . Sleeve: 6pp unglued folder, with foil-blocked type on 350gsm Senses @freestyleprint . Poster: 12pp, B2-esque, black and silver litho on 90gsm Fedrigoni Splendorlux @pureprintgroup .
