Shaping a digital space for Mariaâs practice was a pleasure, having worked together in various capacities in recent years. The site serves as an index, a showcase, and a reader, finding subtle ways to honour the granular craft of writing and the hidden architecture of the text.¶
¶
The Readerâs bookish proportions and marginalia recall a printed page, while the Index sectionâs interactive features are definitively digital. Project categories expand and collapse, aiding a swift navigation of the portfolio, which spans journalism, essays, editorial projects, reviews and interviews; for publications including London Review of Books, e-flux, Bookforum, The Times Literary Supplement, The Paris Review Daily, Literary Review, The Plant, and TANK, among others.¶
¶
A latent state reveals the hidden characters within a given text that represent spaces, paragraph breaks, tabs, and line breaks. These formatting marks feature in working documents to control layout and typography, but are not part of a typeface, and do not appear in print or digital publication. They were added to the font as bespoke glyphs, and finally granted visibility.¶
