What is Love & Death?
An ode to the parts of ourselves that we have to say goodbye to.
“Commitment to monogamous love…
‘Building a life together’ with someone…
It necessitates that a portion of who you are must die.
For some people, it might be the portion of their self that hangs unworn laundry over the chair and, for others, the portion of their self that wants to have three children instead of two.
Being cognisant of a partner’s relative sacrifices can dull the inevitable resentment which results but can never fully eliminate it.
Those small deaths and those resentments are the price to pay for companionship.
They are the shadow that the light of love casts when it lands on its victims.
It makes sense then that, when in the throes of a complex relationship, it can be tempting to be envious of your single friends, with their unfettered freedom.
But the cost of that unfettered freedom is loneliness.
And not only loneliness, because before you can properly enjoy that unfettered freedom, you must first mourn the portion of yourself that once shared a part of their identity with another person who is no longer there.“
All the gear and absolutely no idea.
@ormsdirect does Black Friday for the whole month of November and @seann_21 should be employee of the month for helping me get all this gear.
