Artemis II has left Low Earth orbit and is safely on its way to the Moon tonight. The sight and sound of it leaving Earth is something I will remember for the rest of my life.
We got to Spaceview Park right before sunrise. When I looked through my binoculars, I saw the SLS rocket rising out of mist and silhouetted against the disk of the Sun just peaking over the horizon. In a few more minutes, the clouds were scattering these gorgeous sun rays. It was the most awe inspiring thing I’ve ever witnessed.
In that moment I knew we were going to see a launch that day. It felt like an omen from the universe over Launchpad 39-A.
