Since middle school I had dreams of ownership, a fulfilling life, and taking not only myself, but my community and the place I call home, a step further into what tomorrow can look like while still taking pride in our past. I’ve had many ideas of what that would look like. A rapper, a record label exec, a firefighter... shoot, one time I even told my mom I wanted to be a school bus when I grow up, not the driver, the actual bus. Joke is, I own one now ;) As young as I was when my dreaming started, I had no idea it would look like what it is today; being a voice for my community on stages across the world, making films about the most vulnerable parts of Louisiana’s unique culture, and having partnerships with the same local businesses I watched help shape my community when I was in grade school. When you see me outside it’s usually one person on the mic, one person in the saddle, or only one person holding the camera but I promise there’s a network of family, friends, and mentors behind the scenes. They’re scheduling, booking flights, sharing my projects with their peers, giving unsolicited advice (thanks mom😂), editing and fine tuning the stories we want to tell in real time. It takes a lot of bandwidth to preserve culture and keep communities connected. And just like any true Lousiana businessman, I know somebody. #lftfiber #explorelouisiana
